exhaust upgrade for 2006 megacab? What name brand do you recommend?

2006 Dodge Ram megacab. To improve fuel mileage and turbo spool up , What exhaust system would fit nicely and give better flow over stock.

The stock system works great, if you swap out the stock muffler with a good free flow aftermarket muffler.



Also I highly recommend keeping the resonator, this really helps control the drone.

I don't think an aftermarket exhaust is going to get you better turbo spool up or better fuel economy... The stock is very good. You may see a slight decrease in EGTs with an aftermarket. I put a 5 inch on my Mega cab but don't get better fuel economy or have better spool up. Maybe cooler EGTs, but their is a drone on the highway.

I put a Rokkteck Silent Might on mine and I IMMEDIATELY noticed better spool up. It also coasts down slower and therefore comes back up quicker between shifts with my 6 speed. I can't see much mileage help, maybe a tenth or 2. NO DRONE AT ALL. Maybe 10% louder than stock and a very brief growl at 12-1400rpm. I mounted it in the "quiet" position and kept the resonator.

I would go for the Geno's garage muffler elimination kit, straight pipe that fits very nicely in place of the stock muffler. I am very happy with it. It is still really quiet with the cat and resonator in place. Pluce it only cost about a 100 bucks. Any good flow through muffler will do the same thing. No sense in replacing the entire exhaust since it is already 4", unless it is just for looks, which is cool too. Scotty

I ran the stock exhaust with a walker muffler from napa for a long time. . I just installed a 5'' Silverline and it fit well and looks great. . It's a 304 Stainless system. .

I would be very careful what you install. I bought an 06 mega that had a 5" magnaflow with their 5"cat. The drone was unbearable!! I put a 5" flex in first... not much help. Pulled the cat and put in a 5" resonator. . a bit better. Pulled the magna muffler and put on a big Donaldon 5"er. Nice and quiet but a bit tinny outside. I may try pulling the resonator off. My 2 cents.
