I have a stock exhaust. Deleted the cat and muffler. It is now is bad shape. Any suggestions for new upgrade? Brand size? Thinking about a 5 inch?

A 4" is good for way more HP than you can realistically make. Full 5" will kill low end TQ and flow unless you add DP wrap, exhaust blanket and turbo boot. If you want 5" for tone I would do a 4" down pipe, muffler and hook a 5 " DPF back to the muffler, best of both worlds.

No DPF here...... [5.9L]
5'' is over kill, sometimes bigger is worse.
4'' then stepping up to 5'' down the line would prob be better.
Flo Pro is a good deal, this is what i have in 4'' SS.
If you dont want much muffing, ad a FTE resonator, kills drone and allows your turbo and diesel growl to shine though

He has a 5.9L, just like i do; no DPF
Or are you calling the CAT a DPF?
So if you are, yup! my CAT is under my shop table! :D

So what are you guys recommending. Just replace it with a 4 inch. What if I did a 5 inch with a straight through muffler?*

No, I never said he HAD a DPF, I said if he wanted 5" for sound he could use a 5" DPF back system. That is what they are called for the 6.7 trucks, DPF back systems. A 4" DP with an AeroTurbine 4040XL will be just about where the CAT and DPF on a 6.7 sits. The DPF back system replace the muffler and tail pipe with a straight thru 5" exhaust.

I would recommend a 4" DP, AeroTurbine 4040XL and a 5" DPF back system. You cannot buy pieces of a 5" system, it is all or nothing or you throw away part of it. A 4" DP can be bought separately and the 5" system mated to it. When my stock tail pipe and mid pipe system finally gives up that is what I will do, a 5" DPF back system for an 07.5. I already have a mandrel bent DP, AeroTurbine and had to add another 16" resonator to kill the drone. A 5" inch exhaust will be magnitudes worse for drone.

IMO, a whole lot better. A 4" straight pipe is just too raspy and snarly to me, the drone just sets my teeth on edge. You might like just Aero Turbine but I had to add another resonator to calm it. Under load it sounds great, limits the drone and deepens the tone on the hi-way.The 5" muffler back should help deepen the tome a bit more. The 5" down pipe and muffler are just too big for a basically stock fueling, it interferes with flow at the DP and cuts low end TQ. The Aero Turbine helps spin the exhaust as it exits and then a 5" will work while not affecting throttle response. From a sound and functionality perspective I think it is much better, but, that is personal choice to some degree.

Great advise to you Dave!
Dont believe all the ads that are out there.... they love to sell stuff........

I have a 4'' turbo back Flo Pro and with just the Flo Pro straight through muff, i had drone @ 2000rpms; enough to drive my nuts!
So i added a FTE 30'' resonator which makes it 'just right' in my opinion...

Trying to like a drone machine when your tired and have a headache......

If i wanted more noise i would drop my flo pro muff and just keep my FTE.
Really lets my turbo shine through!
