Is anyone using an exhaust from Stan's Headers? After noticing this weekend just how badly crushed the tailpipe is where it goes over the axle I decided it's time to replace the exhaust. I talked to Stan and he said that his system uses the stock down pipe and replaces everything else with 3" aluminized mandrel-bent pipe with an Allied muffler.

If you think the axle area is bad, check around your transfer case support brackets! Wow! I had Performance Exhaust in Sumner do mine. Good luck.

Got my exhaust from Stan's, They do great work and prices are real reasonable.

Hi Terry,

I read somewhere in here that the 3" mandrel bent is perfect for our applic. Its what I had installed by BD some years ago and works well for me. As I recall the issue was you would need to go larger if you really BOMBED the truck into higher HP, otherwise the 3" was fine. But what do I know. I'd be glad for more info myself on this one. Also I think mine is 3 1/2" from turbo outlet to collector then 3" back from there.

I had both BD and Jardine 3. 5" systems, both are nice, BD comes with instructions, Jardine has a straight thru muffler, and Jardine does not require instructions; nice install

Anyone ever put an 89-93 on the dyno after changing only the exhaust to see what gain if any gains are to be had?

Check with Joe Donnelly. He was the expert on the exhaust size vs horsepower.

Unless I am mistaken, most of the aftermarket exhaust systems for our trucks are 3" from the downpipe to the muffler, and 3. 5" from the muffler back.
When I purchased my truck, it already had a 3" mandrel bent system (of unknown origin!) on it-don't think it would pay to change.
