relay question

I have a 2001. 5 2500 ram, this being my first diesel truck, I have many questions about it. The biggie right now is about the exhaust manifold. My manifold is turning blue at the front port, is this natural. The dealer says it is, but I don't trust them with this diesel engine. I have two modifications,1) I have added a K&N air filter and 2) I just had it straight piped. Other than these two things, the truck is stock.

That is perfectally normal. The color change is just from the manifold heating up and changing the tempering properties. Don't worry about it.

Thanks for the reply, I was just worried because it is only changing color in the one spot and I thought that maybe that cylinder was over heating. I have three friends with CTD and they have not discolored at all, but they are all standard shifts, will that make a difference?

JMullens,

If you want instant guaranteed piece of mind drive it hard and swing into a diesel shop with a heat gun. You can take a read on every outlet and see if you've got a hot cylinder.

You'll probably want to set this up in advance so they are waiting, gun in hand for you stop rolling.
