Banks NEW 4” Exhaust

Finally Ordered One

I installed my new 4" stainless exhaust with the spiral flow-louvered muffler last night. :D So far I am happy with it under normal driving. The only thing that I want different is at WOT I want the bark to be gone. I do not like how loud it is under those conditions. My question is for the guy's with the 4" exhause and the Aeroturbine muffler. Does it take the bark out of your exhause or is it still there? :) or:( ??? Where is the best place to put the Aeroturbine muffler?

Thanks for the help, Brad

Still got BARK

I mounted my Aero Turbine in place of the original muffler and I still have the bark your talking about, but that's the reason I installed the Aero Turbine muffler, I like the bark. These new trucks are just to darn quiet for my taste and after doing the research I found that this muffler was exactally what I was looking for because of the bark :p So if you didn't want this then why didn't you keep the original muffler?

Exhaust

Well smart a-- the reason I changed mine is to lower EGT's. I was not looking for the noise. I put a 4" on my Power chock to do the same thing and didn't have the bark. I don't mind it being a little louder. I just don't want to take a 900 mile trip and have to listen to it all of the time. The reason I posted on this topic was to get information.

If you have any to offer I greatly oppreciate. If not don't even bother.

See the Thread "03 exhaust (stock muffler)". I replaced mine with a (quote is from my post on above thread) "The muffler is an FLO-PRO 6192 8"round x 24"long, over all length is 30". "

Also some other info avail in other posts. If mine wasnt welded in, I would trade with you as I WANT more "bark" but the SO like this one better than the straight pipe.

Just another "cheap" opinion - worth 0. 015$

SOTSU!!

the aero**** probably has the most bark out of all mufflers - look how small it is... . it's sheer size doesn't allow it to rid the exhaust of lower frequency sound.

dieselpowerproducts.com has a sound clip if you want to listen to it -- the clip was generated w/no load, just revving of the engine

Magnaflow

Hey Intense, take a look at my posting of a few days ago under "Magnaflow Performance Muffler". I put the on the Magnaflow, part number 12772, 4" in, 4" out, and I really do like it. I did not want anything loud and obnoxious, and this seems to be just about right, got a nice low growl, but no bark. It is a straight through design, so there is no back pressure.

Hey intense, how do you see out of those "tented" windows? I have tinted windows on mine and it just a little darker than norm. Does the tent on your windows scratch?

Raminspeed, what is your major malfunction? This is a forum for Dodge Cummins turbo trucks and the people who enjoy them, not a forum of English, grammar or spelling. Perhaps you logged onto the wrong forum. A. Lincoln once said that you can keep your mouth closed and let people guess about your intelligence, or you can open up your mouth and show people how smart you are. You opened up your mouth and now the readers of this forum know something about you. Cut us some slack, I think we all knew what was meant. I guess we will all have to assume that you were just kidding and it was in "good humor" and not an malicious, mean spirited attack on a person's post.

I have gone to Fort Collins CO. twice with my geno's muff. eliminator and surprisingly its not loud at all

I like my "tented" windows better than my tinted windows. The zipper works really great. :D :D :D

No I have not had any problems with it scratching. I had the driver side, the passenger side, and the rear window done to match the factory tinting in the rear doors. I have had tinting done on my last 5 vehicles.

"Intense"

Well now I no why you call yourself "Intense Marine"! I wasn't trying to be a smart a##, I was just having a little fun with ya. That's one of the nice things about this forum, we can have a little fun with each other and enjoy the humor in it. It was not my intent to offend you.

OK, folks, on my 4" all-the-way system I dropped in the second AeroTurbine in front of the first one (about 6 inches) and the sound is (like the littlest bear said), "Just Perfect!"

Heavy thunder with no barrrk, NO drone in cab at any RPM. Expensive but worth it? Didn't really drone before anyway.

I thought the bark reminded me of a school bus and I sure didn't want to think I was back on one of them!

Now as to the EGTs; not sure, may climb faster than with one only, which was way slower to jump up, but I could not top 1100 degrees in any effort to push it towing the little Haulmark 12-footer with a total GCVW of about 13,000. And this was just up to PA, so no decent grades. Guess the final report will have to wait until I hook up the 28' Classic and go to WVA, or get some input on the right distance to phase the mufflers apart. The scavaging effect would be better if I moved one up front, but i'd have to lower the headpipe some to get the Aero away from the floor, and ran out of time to try that.

EnLjones, sorry for jumpinOo. down your post. I was not happy with the way my truck sounded and I probably took it out on you. Please accept my apology. ;)

ntenna, driving 75mph down the hwy can you hear your exhaust inside the truck.

I have been on the net looking every where. Does anybody know of someone that makes a Stainless Muffler that is 4" in and 4"out that would have some baffling in it?

If I add an Aero Turbine in line with the muffler that I have now would it quiet it down?

At 75 I have just a deep, low rumble, just barely louder than wind noise! It's just what I was looking for, no drone, just a faint sound of LOTS of power.....

Muffler

Hey Intense, I put a Magnaflow muffler on my truck and I really like it. It is not loud, has an nice deep throaty sound, no harsh crack sound. It's 4" in and 4" out, does not have a baffle in it, but a series of holes in it to take away the roar. I have enjoyed it, and since it is straight though, I know I have no back pressure. The nice sound was an added benefit. It is quite enough that my wife had not even noticed that I changed the muffler out and when I got on it once when I was passing a vehicle, she noticed that it had more get up and go and sounded "different. I told her it was the Jake brake that made it sound "different", hey, whatever works! I have posted the part number and cost on another thread, if you can not find it, PM me and I will give it to you.
