Anyone have guidelines or ideas for upgrade exhausts for 2004. 5 600's. I realize everyone has their brand loyalty but is it necessary to go the whole route or will CAT back do it? I'm not racing, just wanting to tweak power and mileage reasonably for towing and driving!

Me when I do exhaust I'm getting rid of the cat. If I'm going to spend the money going to do it all. Outside of that, I had Silverline on my 04. 5 and was happy with it, this one is getting STACKS.

The stock system has 4 in pipe. Its a waste of money IMO to get even full turbo back exhausts for these trucks. I bought a Muffler and some pipe at a local exhaust shop they put in the muffler, the cat ran away before they could put it back in and a chrome tip for $170. 00.

Catless?

I helped "Catwrench" install a 5" stainless turboback Magnaflow on his '05. It's a quality product with no drone but p. m. him about doing it again.

I honestly didn't see much performance difference with or without... I'm running without and the main thing is it makes it louder.

sAVE YOU SOME MONEY

JUST REPLACE YOUR CAT WITH A REPLACEMENT PIPE $ 61. 00 STAINLESS 4" HOOKS RIGHT UP.

IF U ARE GOING TO PUT ENTIRE EXHAUST IN GO FROM turbo BACK YOU WILL SEE BIG DIFFERENCE.

i'll be taking off my cat to see what happens this spring early summer. i also have a nelson resinator that i might put on if the sound is too loud. we'll see what happens. right now my 05 is straight going into 5" turnouts. sound it tolerable for me and no drone.

I want to keep my 05 as close to stock sound as possible, but would love to loose the cat and muffler.

I was thinking about putting two mufflers inline to keep the sound inline while allowing for cooler EGTs (my only reason to do this mod).

I guess I am asking too much, but I can dream I guess.

Cat back? or Turbo back?

OK, so it makes it louder. . what is louder? My copilot is a little skiddish about what louder means. I like the rumble, but she isn't sure she will.

Also, is there really some significant back pressure, egt reduction or flow to be cured by removing the cat? Or for that matter, moving up to the new 5" system, other than to say "mine is bigger than your"?

just saw my kat run away finally. now i have staight all the way through. very happy with the way it sounds. was kind of liery at first. not sure if the neighbors like it bellowing off their homes, but too bad. has much deeper grunt tone than before. as for performance not sure didn't have it on a dyno but the egt's probably dropped 50-75 degrees just empty. haven't pulled nothing yet to compare. boost is maybe a little quicker but then again i have almost a stock truck with a box on it. no drone b4, no drone after. now i just wish i had a manual to get them low rpms to here the growl. otherwise the choice is up to ya'll to leave on or off.
