OK, so I posted this same symptom last year on this forum for my 05 with a plaguing issue... so I'm going to ping everyone again for the exact symptom my 06 is starting to show signs of. In summary, my 05 (48RE 2500) would at around 14K miles, around 1600-2200rpms lunge or maybe actually be drawn back both with a trailer and without one (tow/haul ON and OFF) like someone grabbed my driveline momentarily and then released it. My tach would flinch upward 100 rpm's or so, or it looks to go up. It could be dropping and just be flinching upward/downward momentarily. The duration of this is 2 seconds or less. So quick the dealer couldn't capture it in any readings through the OBD port (05). They swapped the TC (05) checked the transmission but it still did it. Now mind you when you have 15K of weight behind you it gets down right obnoxious (like my truck had hick-ups). It would stay in this fit until I jammed on the accelerator to get it to shift out of the RPM range and then drop the RPM back down which it got so bad that trying to drive 55-60 through California was very painful and I had to kick it up to 65 just "to get out of the zone". It started out (as I'm seeing now on my '06) maybe 3 occurances in 200 miles. My 05 got progressively worse to the point I had no issue duplicating it for the dealer and take them for a wild bucking bronco ride with the trailer so it was a sure bet and exagerated Oo. . I can only imagine how it is stressing my TC/transmission or rearend. They even commented on how I could stand driving it like that as I did for 2000 miles on the road trip. After 4 months of data collection and DC scratching their head they finally voided my warranty since I had a Banks intercooler (cause I popped my plastic one on my road trip and was told plastic is all I could get... line of BS) and Bullydog just put on within two weeks of getting it before the road trip. Now all the troubleshooting was in a bone stock scenario but DC didn't care they voided and said nothings wrong observing the truck data the dealer collected and sent to them. The dealer was as p*ssed as I was but they could do nothing more for me without sending me to an outside source (basically they couldn't figure out what it was without just cause to DC in swapping parts). Anyway, I traded the "female dog" in for a 3500 4. 10, 48RE with towing capacity of 15500 instead of the 13K my 05 was rated for. Now with 16500 miles on my 06 it is just starting to do the same thing (about 3 times in 200 miles). Got me crappin' my drawers
. What can it be? The last thing the dealer mechanic was saying was he believed it could be a momentary fueling issue (drop out?) He monitored my TC and said there was no activity during the symptom but the rail pressure showed some unusual "noise" or to what he considered odd. I'm having a hard time blaming my bullydog since I put it on this one again (06) after having no issues for 10K stock run miles, since I know I was having this issue on my 05 bone stock (OK, MBRP exhaust only). I was very close on my other one to spend the 5K on a built-up transmission since I felt it was possibly a transmission issue still, plus it would be a good mod with the weight I pull with the hope of removing the problem all together. Now with it going 14K with no issues on both trucks, I can only suspect I'm fatiguing something out and it's beginning to surface again. Now the worst part about this, is hearing my wife complain "you can't leave anything alone, now can you!" :-{} She wants a Chevy now :{ . I'm going to see how this progresses if it does, and pull the trailer in "Stock" power mode to ease up on stressing the truck for the moment. I fully expect it to progressively get worse over time as it did my other (05). I remember praying that something would just break and reveal the demon inside, even if it meant I was stuck on the side with my 5th wheel. I just wanted closure. It just pulls so well in "Towing" mode, I miss the extra little power is gives on my )06). Could there be a Valve Body issue. It acts like it wants to shift the truck for no reason but then catches itself... . Any ideas or similar experiences would be great... I can't be alone. This is usually how my luck is, I usually beat the odds. Thanks ahead of time for any input.
