Competition 799.96 HP Turbo

DaveTD- got it ! Thanks! I'll be in touch!!!

Scott let us know the changes I've been curious about this for a while but after investing all that cash- I'm leery to shock the trans that way without hearing the pros and cons... .....

I think Turbo Thom is having some fun.

What most racers do is not really a secret from what I see. Everyone has their favorite turbo set-up, injectors, pump work, pistons, cams etc. Some use N20, or water/meth and some use #2 only. Again preference.

I think the difference is how they tune and set-up the drivetrain and chassis.

Personally, I have seen first hand information shared, assistance provided, tips, etc. provided between race teams and I like to see that happen.

I'll add my secret to success. If you want to go fast, it's not the parts by itself that make it happen. It is making those parts develop the power you are looking for, in a range best suited for what you are trying to achieve. This is done two ways. Either countless trips to the track or dyno time.

I find it amazing that people will spend thousands of dollars on parts but resist spending a few hundred having the truck tuned by someone who knows how on a dyno. This is especially true on a 12v.

Speak for yourself David…

My latest invention is a steam actuated spurt stem (SASS) It bypasses push rods and since push rods aren't used, you don't run a cam. The force of the steam stems opens the values. Since the values are always opened, you don't need a timing mechanize. Less resistance :) I haven't been able to start the motor yet however, tonight at the track, were going to give it a salt flat compression push start, should be hotter then a two dollar pistol. …

I'll report out on my progression w/ the Sass system Monday.

Justin-

We only briefly talked about this- are you monitoring the temps of the trans fluid ?

How qwik does the release act on the solenoid? instantainious?

Have you been using this setup at the track?

Did your reaction times change with this for the better or worse?

Your brakes wasn't holding you on the line at what boost psi was this?

Do you have a driveshaft loop(if not better get one:-laf )

I'm wondering about the affects of doing this has on our pressure sensitive automatics?

And finally what have your 60' times changed to using this set up( if your going to track)?

 cool idea... ...

I will take lots of pictures for you.

I am heading down to the shop to pull the trans and just give it a "one over" before we install the new VB.

This will be the first time I have had the trans out since the 5” exhooost is in there. Might have to get mid evil with a sawzall????

The release will be adjustable. We are going to use a pulse modulation solenoid that the user will be able to control the release. I still think that if it is going to be used for the strip the user will want the release instantaneous. (Can you say full billet???)

Might also have to run a double deep pan to allow everything to fit properly.

This will be for race applications only!!

The trans brake will sacrifice the rear clutches (actually front clutches, but dodge is bass ackwards). This all depends on how fast the solenoid is set to release. If there is any delay material will be woren off the rears as they drop off allowing the tuck to jump forward.

Yes, the temps will be monitored. There will be some heat created with the truck spooling against a tight stator.

The system will have a fail-safe feature that will only allow the brake to be engaged when the shifter is in manual low AND the solenoid is energized. (Better that way anyway, the rear band is applied in manual low to increase holding capacity)

Extensive valve body fabrication has to be done to allow it to work correctly.

I am thinking this will be done by exchange instead of selling kit, unless the end user is very competent in tearing into a VB and drilling/tapping holes.

Will try to post some pics tonight.

Exotic parts..... all the bells and whistles... .

Call PDR.

If they don't have it... they can get it... .

not satisified with PDR call Haisleys or Scheids!

Easy but short list!

Josh

DaveTD- Thanks again for taking the time out to talk to this Yankee. :-laf !!

Please don't forget to talk to Jeff about what we discussed. . I would love to help with that theory Jeff came up with... ... Think he's right there with what's up with these 24's!! It would be very interesting to prove that theory correct- and reap the power benifits from it!!

Let me know thru a PM or throw a post up on any of the threads I started, for me to call you... or Jeff for that matter. If my phone number is still loaded in your cell phone I give you permission to give it to Jeff. .

Thanks again!:D

Racin Duallie,

There are several guys out there making exotic parts. I have several names

That pretty much sums it up... ...

Jetpilot-I called and left message on voicemail:)

Anybody know of anykind of Billet 24 Valve Rocker Bridges?

What about Increased Ratio Rocker Arms?
 (That would require notches!) - What about Pistons- ?:D

HMMMMMM This could get interesting... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . :-laf :-laf !!

I don't know anything specific, but I do know of a diesel that now has a water to air intercooler. I think it is a custom Spearco.

RD, Aries pistons should be what you are looking for. Scheid or Haisley's carries them. Lots of choices also.

I also have Aires pistons, and a much lighter one. Getting my first set in now. I also have billet 24 valve bridges available, but why, the stock ones work great, besides the weight. I have been working on some very knew ideals and making them a reality. The rockers are not far off, will be a 1, 75 ratio.

I think that I will be able to make any thing any one wants. My new piston and rod combo is 4 pounds lighter total. This should make it rev up

This is what a days worth of porting and R&D looks like Burt worked from can to can't BURT is Robert Daniels, the man behind a few records, and the talent now porting my heads. Welcome aboard Burt

What are the rods made out of Greg? Will the new rockers hit the stock pistons without flycutting them?

the 1. 75 will clear , but dosent every one check piston to valve any way ,
