Hello all,

I have been a member for a couple months, just never posted. After reading many posts here, I have come to the conclusion that some of the stuff I have done to my truck may not be the best, but it was done before I found this site. (Which in my opinion should come with the owners manual. )

I have the Banks Big Hoss Level 5 kit (160hp), with an AFE cold air box, other than it is stock. My questions is What kind of power should I be seeing? It dyno'd @ 255hp & 535lbs. Is the about right, or should there be more? I thought adding 160hp would put it over or at 300hp, but maybe I was dreaming.

Thanks in advance,

Justin

With the automatic you should be pushing just under 200 hp stock, at the rear tires. So that sounds about right to me, 255hp and 535 ftlbs. You have to remember the numbers you see on a dyno are at the rear tires and manufacturers specs and claims from companies are normally at the crank. Parasitic loss through the drivetrain, especially an automatic is in upwards of 20-25%. Hope this helps.

160 HP at what RPM? Usually manufactures state the greatest increase in power but fail to tell you what peak power will be.

It's probably about right.

Thanks for the responses, I have learned alot from the this web site. My truck runs fine, I think I have the same problem everyone else has (need or want more POWER).

Thanks again.

Justin

How much boost were you running and how high were your EGT's. If they were 1250F the big hoss was probably EGT limiting. I run 33LBS of boost with mine on level 4. Any more seems not to make a difference.

I bought the same unit, probably install on saturday, Then injectors when the thrill is gone.

any suggestions.

Banks promises a lot more than they deliver. I have never seen one of our trucks get more than 70 hp out of their top kits. They advertise that their system will not hurt anything on your truck. They are right--55 to 70 hp is not going to hurt anything. You can get the same increase with an EZ.
