We've got a customer looking for feedback on air ride seats in a 1999 Dodge. Any feedback/input/etc. appreciated. Post here and or e-mail Chuck - -- email address removed --.

air ride seats

Only air ride seats I'm aware of come in larger trucks (business-class and up). It is possible to mount them in a Dodge, so I'm told... the trick is the mounting pedistal height.

Ah, you're stealing my idea!

LOL! I don't think there'd be too much to this. I got a new book at the store the other day with all kinds of air ride seats and they were pretty reasonable too. They even offered a little 12v compressor in case you didn't have air on the truck. Like Bcfast just said, it looks like the trick is to be very careful on measurements but I found some in there that looked like they would fit ok. Let's face it, with some of the other hoops we jump through to modify our trucks, I bet this one wouldn't be too bad. Whenver my seat wears out, I plan to try and bolt some in. If you need any more info, drop me a line.

You have to be careful about the unloaded height of the seat. When the seat bounces sometimes the drivers head will hit the roof. The GMC C6500's (Topkick) have a raised roof for the trucks with air seats. I am 6 foot and that roof hurts

Oh please!

These trucks don't ride that rough!!! Buy a caddie. An Air ride seat does not help that much. Just takes the harshness out of some large bumps. My work truck(97int) has an air ride seat and its a little better than a non airride but by no means does it make the ride smooth. Of course this is in a truck that is sprung for 12K front axle wieght and 21K rear axle wieght. Alot of roads around here require you to put your hand on your drink so it won't come out of the cup holder. IMO it would not even be worth spending even $5 on an air ride seat. As someone said earlier there is not enough room for sufficient travel. Also with the sensitivity(sp) of the ISB throttle pedal it could get kinda hairy on a bumpy road lol.

I'm inclined to agree with the others about the necessity, of an air seat. However, I guess I don't need a 300 horse truck either... Whatever... At any rate, one of the main issues that I would be concerned with was already addressed, and that was head clearance. However, there are manufacturers who sell low-profile air seats for class8 trucks. Here's the thing. IMO only the regular airseats were comfortable. The lowpro seat has you sitting with your legs sticking straight out at a 90 degree angle from your torso. Try calling a peterbuilt dealership, and ask them who they buy their low profile seats from.

Just a few ideas. :)
