Experience with Northwest Custom Flaps?

Soliciting input/feedback. Trying to decide what to buy for new ride, when it gets here in a few weeks. Of all the flaps I have looked at, I think I want to go with Northwest Custom. Just curious, any issues anyone had with them? How long have you had them?



I don't know how they mount, and am curious if they are easy to put on.



I read somewhere about buildup of road debris behind one particular flap and how it caused abrasion of the painted surface behind it. I assume that would eventually lead to rust. Any problems along this line with NW?



I am planning on getting a set of 4.



If anyone has recommendations to consider, please feel free - I am asking for it!!!

I have mud flaps from Northwest Customs and have had them for maybe 5-6 years. I bought them when Jason was moon lighting on the side. They are a very good flap, I have never had a issue with them since I installed them. The design is very nice, they install easy and the hardware is all first class. They are very unusually, and I often have people come up to me and ask about them. I love them, they do an ordinary job in an extra ordinary way. There is not really any maintenance to them, I just wash them off, and apply some spray on tire foam. Good luck

I have had Northwest mud flaps for (4) years I had them on my 2000 on my 2002 and now on my 2004 thay are the best mud flaps I ever owned. All the trucks are dullys but I never had them for the front wheels.

Do those come in a set of four or is the pricing listed just for a set of rears?

Bartlett, they come in a front set and a rear set. they are spendy but very well made.



HOC 04. 5, Since you don't have a dually they are pretty easy to install, from what I have seen. With a dually you need to find someone who is young and flexible to get the one bolt in.



The only issue with NW Custom flaps is getting ahold of Jason, he recently changed his phone number when he moved to a new shop. I'll try to find his new phone numbers.

i have had NW flaps on my 98 dually as well. Great product. mine got bent up a few times. advice, be careful when backing up into a parking space with a parking block or a curb. they can get caught between the curb and get bent and pulled downward. it was my own fault. don't ever forget thier back there. I did a few times. I forgot when I went snow plowing. I plow 13 car dealership lots. I pride my self on doing a good job and never hitting any new cars. Well backing into snow banks will pull then right off your truck. I ripped both dually fenders. I fixed them once with some new brackets I fabricated. Then tore tham off again plowing. cost me alot to fix my fenders.



IT WON'T EVER HAPPEN TO ME AGAIN. MY NEW DUALLY WILL HAVE THE SAME FLAPS. I WON'T BACK INTO ANY SPACES EVER AGAIN, AND THEY WILL COME OFF WHEN I SNOW PLOW IN THE WINTER.



They are a bit pricy but you get what you pay for. Go for it. Thier is nothing out there like em.



I also want to now what was put behind the 'Fear This' emblem on the flaps picture in the last post.

Ok i got a hold of Jason this afternoon at northwest. Iwant to purchase a set of 4 mudflaps for my 04. 5 thats on order. I was pretty excited about the shiny diamond plate but he recommended to go with the stainless due to the amount of salt they use to treat the roads up here. Does anyone have the stainless on there trucks?How is the finish?Would it look good with 2tone(black/silver)Cummins logo in the center,yeah or nay?opinions?

I am surrounded by diamondplate at work so I really like my stainless. I think that it is much easier to clean and polish up than diamondplate.



I don't know about the 'C' in the center the boss bought them for my b-day present. She said that she really liked the Ram's head and did not like the 'C'. Yeah I got the Ram's head. Any design in stainless will look good on the black rubber background. IMO

Stainless Steel are the only way to go! Had diamond plate and hated the maintence of them!

Ramrod: Is your truck 2WD or 4WD? Where I work we are required to back in park for safety - semi trucks drive through parking lot all the time on the way to a terminal. I have to back against the parking curb stop to try and get the truck out of the way as much as possible.



Are they so rigid that they will bend the mounting bracket rather than the flap bending?



My truck is 4X4 so it might make a difference in height - especially in the rear.



One other question - Does anyone have pics of a SRW 3rd Gen with NWCustoms on it? On the website I did not find a good look at the front on any Dodge, and none of a 3rd gen.

I had a custom emblem done and Jason did a great job with it. I'd recommend getting them. The advice above about backing up is true, my driver rear is bent down a bit, have to fix it with warmer weather coming.



When you go to mount them, you might drill the holes, then paint or caulk or something to help prevent the fender from getting started on rust.

My 98 was a 4wd dually. Once in a while if I had air in my firstone airbags They would be higher than a curb or a parking block. I had bent the top parts that mounts to the truck, and also the weight part. One time I took them to my welder to rebend the diamond plate on his brake.



You just need to be very careful. If you park in the same spot everyday or could arrange to do that, I would throw a 2x4 at the right spot so you know when to stop.



I myself would also like to see some pictures of the stainless flaps. I had diamond plate. Even cleaning them frequently with Mothers metal polish, they still would look tarnished. Especially when you have the habit of polishing them with curbs and parking blocks :{
