Race at I.R.P.

New Duramax, 360 HP and 650 Torque

The answer is to drill in Alaska, the lower states and the Golf of Mexico. Castro is planning to drill within 45 miles of Florida. Are we "STUPID" or something. We need to get our legislaters off their butt.

It is called GREED plain and simple

I believe you spelled that word wrong, it's actually spelled JEALOUSY!

It could also be spelled CAPITALISM!

But I guess greed works for the un-informed. If this guy would have ran a computer company, or one that made cheese no one would have even thought about it. But since he worked for a company that he helped make very successful which just happens to refine oil it's a big deal only because it effects you. Amazing!

The real "Explanation for High Fuel Prices" is supply and demand, look it up!

The guy at the computer company doesnt SLOW production to drive up prices at the pump, and people can live and work without a computer, many people need gasoline to go make a living ie single mothers and those who are not as fortunate as us. Jfaulkner, there is plenty of money in the guaranteed sale of gasoline without driving up prices to make investors happy. That is not capitalism it is pure evil greed at the expense of the poor the way you and the fat cat people in the oil buisness would prefer to make thier money, burdening the American people. Wake up

lack of oil or the price of oil is only a little part of the high fuel price game. The lack of refining facilities is the real reason for high fuel prices. Katrina knocked out some refineries, but the EPA and the green tree hugging spotted owl lovin clowns are the biggest problem we have. New emition laws have shut down some refineries and have stopped the building of new refineries.

I look it up every time I fill my tank. How about you?Maybe you work for the oil companys? How much profit does one company really need to make?Since you are so informed with all your vast knowledge maybe you can explain this to us?coobie :-laf

A good read The boring reason behind high gas prices gives a good explaination for the high prices these days (and days to come).

High crude prices (OPEC), refining capacities, gov't regulations (multi-grades of gas for different regions), capital investments regulations and restrictions, etc...

Think how much things would change if the oil companies only had to make one type of unleaded and one type of diesel. Also the new regulation for ethonal use instead of MBTE is leading to regional shortages and stations "out of gas".

I would think that if greed was the reason, you would see some oil companies drop their prices a little to attract more customers since the pool of customers is quite constant in the US so the way to increase your business is to get more of the static pool of customers to come to your stations. This would lead to gas wars like in the old days.

I won't give exxon my money either. In fact I won't buy products from a oil company that gets thier crude oil from the middle east if I can help it. I try to buy from sinclair or some of the other Canadian oil companies.

My favorite part of the fuel price increases is how those knuckleheads in Congress start threatening the oil companies!! Yet, for all the retheroric, they REFUSE to lower any of the fuel taxes!!!

Congress could help us if they CHOOSE to do so. However, they are more addicted to our money than we are to oil.

I still drive my truck however. I like nothing better than pulling up in my large fuel in-efficient truck next to some tree-hugger in their hybrid and watch them give me dirty looks. Some day, somebody is going to get serious about marketing/selling veggie-fuel for us and then we will finally see some competition.

Oh, and don't forget to thank your local tree-hugger for not letting anybody in the US build a refinery for over a decade.

You can blame "big oil" all you want, but the fact is those scumbags in gov't are just as bad if not worse. At least Exxon is employing people and they only take your money if you choose to buy their product.

Its easy to point a finger at "big oil" because there isn't a face to associate with it. I know a number of members here own their own businesses I wonder how they would feel if I said we should regulate how much they can charge for their products/services. How would you feel if everybody said the price of your product was all due to your greed???

The answer to the price of fuel is not the easy answer that the pinheads in the main-stream media want you to believe. It has to do with refining capacity, taxes, gov't requirements, the list goes on and on and on.

I know its easier from some folks to believe that its all a conspiracy formulated by a bunch of fat cats smoking cigars in some back room but that's not the case!! News flash, there weren't any space aliens landing at Roswell either!!

Exxon does 400 billion in sales or more a year. The 200 million for retirement and bonus is not but a little bitty drop in the bucket of the cost of your fuel. A very small fraction of a penny.

Don't get mad at Exxon. If someone was to do a survey of all the major oil companies the pay that Exxon's CEO makes would not be as surprising. Compare the business they do to a little company like say Microsoft and you would feel like the oil company execs are getting stiffed.

Fuel is not going to go down appreciably until either supply increases or the world demand goes down. Neither looks promising.

As the fuel prices go up alternative fuels like hydrogen will be more attractive.

I'm still waiting on the small diesels. Can't wait to own a small diesel truck that gets 35 mpg and pulls my boat at 25 mpg.

Sad to say, I drive a 42 MPG Honda Civic DAILY and my Diesel is PARKED! I have also started to WALK. The good thing about my new way of life is Ive lost 20 pounds and I can still fill my tank for about $35. Its sad that I have such a nice truck and refuse to bend over and spend $130 to fill the tank. As far as the oil companies go, they can all suck eggs! The wonderful country that we all enjoy will be on very hard times very soon and it will be due to the high fuel prices. Yes, I could afford to pay the price of fuel but I REFUSE! Im actually planning to buy a new PT Cruiser next week to use on our summer vacation. The local dealer here in Oregon is having a sale and you can get one in the mid $11k's. Nicely equiped, not a strip-o. At this rate, my truck will be a ultra low mile machine in the next 10 years. My guess is that we will all be driving Geo's in the next 5 years, if anything at all. Maybe mopeds. Im my opinion, anyone that is an empolyee of ANY oil company shoule be hung up by their toes.

Here is something to think about when we are complaining about fuel prices. At any given moment, there is only a 3 day supply of fuel on hand accross the country as an average. This included all fuel in the ground at the stations and in the active (repeat active) on going delivery from the well heads to the refinery to the stations.

The only glut of fuel out there, is in the ground and not pumped and refined yet. We do not have the capacity. What this means is that the supply chain is active and dynamic, meaning that it cannot be just shut off and then restarted. Way too much trouble doing this and very hard to control.

Over all as we start conserving fuel, because we are slowing down and getting a little better economey, we slow slow down the dynamic supply chain. It is hard on the industry to shut down or slow way down because it causes problems. So in theory the price of fuel starts to hold steady and then slightly drop or start to drop as the flow of fuel to the stations starts to slow with less demand. They (the industry) have to get rid of the fuel because they cannot afford a bottle neck because we do not have a storage capacity. So the price starts to drop more to encourage us as consumers to buy more.

That is it in a nutshell. I have friend that owns a stations. Yes big oil (Corporate) has allot of control via their Zone Pricing Policy. They will charge what the market will bear. Twice a week the stations are required to report in all their sales. You can bet there is some serious number crunching and analyizing going on to figure out just how much they can move the price up. If an individual stations desides to charge less, they can be penalized by Corporate with their next delivery charges.

Stations owners are hurting also as they are catching the CRAP from both ends of the chain. Corporate can hurt them if they done charge or hold their price at what corporat recommends and the consumer and hurt them by going to another station.

I don't claim to know all the specifics and inner working, but I know enough that I am very disapointed with our grand and glorious Congress for their absolute lack of concern with a viable self sustaining engery policy. We should have been energy independent years ago. Business is out to make money and profit. I have no complaint about making money. Gouging?? We have to be able to prove it and show via hard core evidence that the oil compainies are actively doing this. Can somebody provide the evidence needed please. I can't. I can speculate all day long, but I don't have the goods on them.

I don't blame the companies, but rather the chicken *(&%^#^&&**^ congress that we have. They are do nothing bunch that get a huge pension after just 4 years and their families seem to keep getting the pension even after they die. Amazing isn't it.

Ok I have had my rant now :(

Put the first tank of bio-diesel in the truck this week ... I'm starting slowly with a blend (B20) and can't wait get to B100. No war necessary to run bio. ;)
