Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Explanation for p0500 p1693

I have gotten these codes twice now. Once after I hooked up the EZ then once after I unhooked and rehooked the EZ. I was wondering if disconectiong the sensors for my edge are what set these off. Does anybody out there know if they could be related?

I get these same codes on my 01 Six speed. The p0500 is the speed sensor and the p1693 is the companion code or whatever they call it, saying that it recognizes having a trouble code. Mine still runs fine. no check engine light. I don't have a chip or box on mine so I don't know if unhooking or re hooking the ez would make the code show up or not. I would say driving it would bring up the speed sensor.

I would venture to sat that hoking and unhooking it is what did it. I installed my guages this past week while doing so I unhooked the power to my edge comp. after that i had a 1693 and before I started I did not have any codes.

I got the same codes plus a p0234 exsesive boost after pulling the silencer ring. it was running a bit slugish after a few days. Put the silencer ring in disconected the batteries for 30min to clear codes fired it up. p0500 went but still have the p1693 and p0234 didn't run good getting the waste gate checked out I was told it could be the problem. Try disconecting the batteries for a bit I dont have an EDGE box but ya never know might work.

JStephens - your spinning the rear tires - this is whats causing the 0500. It don't take much, somethins just turning onto a gravel road will do it.

Dirty Dodge - you need to have the 0234 cleared with a scanner. I set it on my 01 and it started de-fueling & ran like a turd until I had it cleared.
