Extended Hitch

I have been looking at some 5th wheel advertising and have seen an option "Extended Hitch" but no explaination. What is an Extended Hitch? Why would I want one? The only thing I've seen mentioned is that it makes the trailer 9" longer.

This is designed for the shortbed trucks. I have one for my gooseneck from PopUp. It allowed me to put my B&W Turnoverball in the correct forward postion and then added 9"s additional cab clearance.

The extra length afforded by the extended hitch can be useful. I saw a dirt bike hanging from the standard truck hitch tucked nicely under the 5th whl while in Alaska this year. You don't have enough room to do that without the extended hitch.
