Well, IDK, a couple expensive repairs and it is. Had the turbo, 3 injectors, a complete seat assembly (600$), front ujoints, wheel bearings, and the entire drive line replaced on my 04 and it only ever cost me the deductible. Paid for itself for sure, maybe even twice over at dealer repair rates, rental truck included...Nice to have someone else fix all of it for a flat fee (IMHO) and just plain peace of mind. I paid about the same for my 20' for 8y/125k miles.. hope I don't need it, but more than likely will for something along the way.

Also don't forget the rental coverage when it has to go in for repair.
Mopar only pays $35 a day for a total of 5 days, My 18 Ram is in the shop now with a 10 day wait to fix a timing cover gasket, and the rental car is $60 a day.
Not a happy camper.

I am so glad I bought the extended warranty for my 2014 2500, 2016 noticed a rpm flare 2-300 rpm on 4 to 5 shift. Asked dealer to check it when getting oil change, no codes got the "they all do that" line. 2017 trans failed limped to dealer, valve body bolts came loose , fixed under warranty, 25000 miles. Complained again abbout rpm flare , now its 3 to 4 and 4to 5 shift. Again , tech says its okay, no codes, just converter slip before locking up. As far as I know any rpm flare after shifting is the clutch pack slipping in that planetary gear set. Same thing as with a manual trans when you don't let the pedal out too slow when applying the throttle.
Next was the exhaust brake quit last fall, first time extended warranty used, they even covered extra rental car fee because they could not get an inspecter there right away. Then the ignition switch failed on 2/27/21 with 48000 miles, towed to dealer. Told them to check the trans while it was there. The switch was fixed under warranty, almost 900.00. Tech said there are no trans codes. Had to go take him for a drive to show him! Result, they took it apart, 4th , 5th and over drive are bad. Excessive play on input shaft, recommending replacing torque converter and trans. Hoping extended warranty covers it.
Shifting rpm flare caused by slow torque converter lockup is B.S.!

For me, CNA National Z Series extended warranty is well worth it for me and the Recall Ram!

Your dealer probably does not know what they are talking about. If a clutch slips on an RFE, it sets a gear ratio error fault. I would ask to see the clutches, I bet they look fine. When was still working I looked at many transmissions with "bad" clutches. Most were just fine with normal wear. If the clutch is bad it will be burned and black. If it isn't, it hasn't been slipping. My guess is the new transmission will have the same flare, just like my 18 does, and everyone else does with an RFE.

Really? So whats the number for that gear ratio error fault? More B.S. No codes when I took the truck in. HMMMMM, why would the clutches be black? Could it be because the oil pressure to lock up the clutch pack is rising too slow, allowing the engine to overcome it and rev up ? This trans had no rpm flare when new, shifted fine through all the gears, NO RPM FLARE until a little while before the valve body bolts came loose enough to fail the first time. After that was fixed the rpm rise kept getting worse , was only 4 to 5 then 3 to 4 started doing it too. Oh thats just" torque converter lock up causing the rpm flare " B.S. line is what the dealers said. So why no 200 to 500 rpm flare on the 1to 2 or the 2to 3 or 5 to 6 if its the " B.S. torque converter lock up all RFE's do it rpm flare" ? Now the trans has to be replaced because I believed the lie and did not push harder to get it fixed. How many others believe it too and will get stuck with the bill when it should have been covered under FCA warranty. Who started this B.S. ? Rpm flare is a red flag, your trans is failing , ignore it at your own peril.
Luckily I pushed harder this time and its getting fixed before I am stranded on vacation. And my extended warranty is covering it.
