Most of the comments on the website concerning extended warranties have advised to buy the Chrysler/Dodge warranty, and not one from an aftermarket supplier, many of whom have gone bankrupt, and others of whom have denied most claimed repairs. I bought my truck in July '03, and in January '04 purchased a 7 yr, $50 deductible, bumper-to-bumper extended warranty from the same dealer for $1810. About 10 months ago I also purchased the "Diesel Basic Care" package from them, which is 25 oil changes/lubes -- their price was $440. 00 (as I remember) which is about $17. 60 per oil change, which includes oil & filter. The dealer is Chapprell Dodge in Ada, Oklahoma. I'm in California, and have been getting all my service at a California dealer. About 4 months ago, the fact that I had both the Chrysler extended warranty and the oil change plan helped convince the California dealer to extend himself on my behalf with Chrysler, and Chrysler agreed to replace a $59. 00 item at no charge, notwithstanding that I had accumulated approximately 39,000 miles; i. e. , the part was 4,000 miles out of warranty. True, it would have been included under the 7-yr extended warranty, but that would have cost me $50. 00. I haven't had to use the extended warranty yet, but it's there if I need it. I have the skills to do my own repairs, but not the inclination; I'm tired of lying under cars when I could be doing something else.
