I am about to buy a 07 Mega-cab 4x4 3500 CTD

does dodge offer a extended warranty and is it worth the money ?

or is it like most and just extra profit for the dealer

Figure out what it's worth to you. I figure its worth $1000 and kept telling them I will only pay that much. They eventually gave in and sold it to me for that price.

That being said, I don't think I will get my monies worth out of the extended warranty.

The truck has just been incredibly reliable.

All warrantys are based on an "average", so if they sell it for $1,500, then the average repair cost per vehicle has to be far less than $1500, or they would lose money. It is a gamble for sure. I tend not to get the extended warrantys especially if they have deductables/co-pays.

i am glad i got the 8 year 85k mile deal...

it only cost me 300 dollars, but has saved me as much already. i had all 3 U-joints replaced and the flex coupler for 100. 00. im not sure how much the flex coupler is, but i know the DODGE U-joints are about 108. 00 each...

you can barter with the price of the extended waranty... do so. if you can get it cheap anough, then go for it. if you plan on adding mods to your truck, then you may want to sip it.

Yes it is worth it and yes it is extra profit for the Dealer. In fact my 06 is at the dealer as I type this getting a new sunroof put in because all of a sudden it started to not allign up with the body. Not sure which plan I have but I get free rental car which I have used about 4 times now, have the 06 grand sitting in my driveway. The drivetrain has been great but the Dodge wrapper has had a few issues, I took delivery of my 2006 last August 2005 so it had a few early bird issues I guess.

I one for mine, at the cost of repair/labor ,it could pay for it self in one break down.
Also I was told that if it wasn't used at the end of contract I would get my money back!

I picked up a brand new 2006 two weeks ago, the dealer was trying to force the "Maximum Care" warranty into the financing and actually made a snide remark when I told him no. I am glad I didn't. You have 48 months or 48k miles from the in-service date to pick up the extended warranty from Dodge. Even other salespeople were telling me about the extended warranty. I will wait until the 3 year/36,000 warranty gets near it's end then make a decision on purchasing the extended warranty.

My auto insurance (GEICO) offers mechanical breakdown coverage which is well above and beyong the Dodge extended warranty for a fraction of the cost. Check with yours. You may find a better deal with greater coverage.

I have a Honda Motorcycle that offered a 3 year no mileage warranty from the start... and with a fee of 350 you could extend it to 7 years. . again unlimited mileage..... In 7 years it will have over 130K miles... all covered except for stuff that I break, tires, etc...

I now have 213K miles on our 04 and its long been out of warranty... but the offered extended warrany had a mileage limit..... so for the price it wasn't a good value, so I passed... . if it was offered say for 750 bucks a year..... with unlimited mileage, I'd buy in a heartbeat... ... Don't have a clue how Honda can do it on a motorcycle and the car companies can't do it... ... who knows... .

My dimes worth...

You can buy the official Chrysler warranty from any Chrysler dealer. I found one on-line at www.chryslerwarrantys.com

Talk to Diane and tell her Jerry from California sent you. (If she doesn't remember me, reminder I'm the guy that had the house fire. )

Anyway, she will sell you a warranty that is far below any other dealer out there. I even took her quote to my dealer and he wouldn't sell it to me for that price. I got the 7 year, 100K mile warranty for about $1000. That's with zero co-pay. Get the $100 co-pay and it's less. That is also the Platinum plan that covers everything.

The dealership she is affiliated with is in Mass.

Sometimes her website is down. If so, contact her here:

I always ask" you are selling me a quality product aren't you? Why would I need an extended plan, :-laf or should I be buying a Duramax?"

Might need one on a Dura also. GMPP has a great plan and handles lots of bucks in SERVICE CONTRACT repairs. Remember all these extended service agreements are NOT A WARRANTY. Handled under the guidelines of insurance. The statement bumper to bumper is bull. The service agreements are geared towards mechanical with high tech policys getting more involved. If its a black vechicle or a dark colored get a high tech one if it has a exspensive sound system or steering wheel electronics etc.
