We talked to the sales manager at our local DC dealer a few months ago. We decided to go ahead with it since our Dodge has 34,000 and they offered us a deal of $1500 for the maximum care plan. So, today we went down there and that manager wasn't there but we signed the contract with another sales person and he told us there would be a $50 deductable every time we needed work on our truck which the manager didn't tell is about a few months ago, so I wonder

if we are being scammed for that $50 deductable? He says that's the lowest you can get. I somehow feel I'm being BS'ed... am I?Is there a $0 deductable they are hiding from us?

$50 Is Normal

I had the same program and just canceled it. It was just not cost effective. They are refunding most of the price. (less deductable);) ;) ;)

I also got the 100K diesel wrap warranty, comes with a $50 deductible. I have a great dealer that sells and services mostly diesels. Great people and I have them do all of my maintance. Based on my driving that will cover me for the next three years. I got mine because I have an automatic, if I had a 5 or 6sp I would of passed on the diesel wrap. These warranties are only worth having if you happen to need it. I figure if everything looks good at 100K miles I will keep the truck. If not I will trade it for a 6sp. Good luck.

Big Toy: So, if you had a truck for 100,000 miles, and never required any major repairs, you'd feel bad because you didn't get to use the warranty? :)

bigfig: You can also get a third party warranty. I think I was quoted a few hundered less than $1500 for a warranty from Warranty Gold. I had a $0 deductable warranty from them on my '98 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It totally paid for itself when I had the rear alxe replaced at about 50,000 miles. They paid for the whole thing. When I sold the Jeep, the new owner transfered it for $50. It helped sell the vehicle.

It would be great if I never needed to use it :D But if I do I hope I get a new transmission at 95K miles and then upgrade with a DTT VB and TC :D I figure by 100K miles that the Cummins will just be broken-in and with the DTT upgrade to the transmission any future problems I will be capable of handling myself. I got the warranty because it was used and you never "really" know what the previous owner did to the truck. Mine was in great shape, everything looked right and felt right and the service records looked good "but" I could afford the truck but not a major problem $$$ for a couple of years (you know how wives can be). The only thing the dealer did to the truck before I bought it was put on a new Track bar at 35K miles. Tires looked good, even wear on the Michelin LTX/MS so the track bar was not bad enough to mess up the rest of the front suspension. It is a beautiful truck that I could not of afforded "new" and I looked for it for over a year. I know an extended warranty is just an insurance policy, but I am to poor to run without this type of insurance. You know the old saying pay me now or pay me a lot more later :) I would of loved to of had another $5,000 and I could of bought a new one with a six speed and the new 5 year 100K mile powertrain warranty, but I don't like to spend more money than I have. I old (52) and retired and old fashioned. One of the most fun parts about having a Dodge Cummins is the TDR and all of the knowledge that is available.

Alright guys heres the best warranty I found its called warranty usa number is 18004416004 they have a 25$ ded. and a 50 a day rental car and 50 a day hotel hers the kicker if I dont make a claim against it at all for the 5yr or 100000miles you can against hotel or rental car I get the 1800$ back now thats money in the back goodluck

The problem with Dodge extended service contracts, observe that I DID NOT say warranty, is that if you modify your truck in any way and they find out about it, you are no longer eligible for the contract and they will cancel it! Your warranty stops at 36 or 50k depending on what year you have and after that the contract takes over. In small print it says "Vehicles not eligible... ... have any modifications from the stock manufactured state".

Does this sound like experience? You bet!

Fifty Dolla Deductible

I bought my truck used from a private party, paid $50 to transfer the extended warranty to me and the warranty paid for (less $50 deduct):

1) Transfer case front seal and yoke

2) Front axle seals (4X4) both sides

3) NEW 5 SPEED transmission!!

4) Some other small stuff I don't recall.

The transmission was a BIG deal as the bearings were going bad. Howl began in 5th, migrated to 3rd then 2nd then 1st and finally to direct before the new one arrived.

If you're going to BOMB make them inconspicuous and you'll have no problems
