I have a '95 2500 and a '97 3500 and has anyone installed new 2001 towing mirrors on either or these models? If so, what part number did you use? The '97 has electric mirrors and I haul 10' to 14' wide utility buildings and having towing mirrors would help lots! I don't like the western mirrors with the permanent brackets that are attached to the doors because sometimes I have to fold my mirrors in just so I can squeeze into some locations. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Kenr and welcome to TDR!
The towing mirrors are availabe as a kit. Do a search, this has been discussed recently.
An alternative is the furd looking Lucerix or Magna X-Mount (Same thing) mirrors. Yet another alternative is the Powervision mirrors. Searches will turn up threads on these subjects. I just ordered a set of Magnas and should be getting them tomorrow or Friday.

I talked to Magna yesterday about the heated X-Mounts, they make the OEM mirrors for DC. They told me DC's mirrors will be elect. adjustable after Aug. of this yr.

Just went through this.

The 2001 trailer mirrors have the same bolt pattern as all Gen 2 Rams. The dealer kit should come with an additional support backing. (goes on the inside of the door)

The dealer can give it to you at a significant savings ove the "Listed" price. Just push 'em.

Michael,

Do those mirrors also fold in? They look like they do. I'm seriously considering getting them. I'm kicking myself for not getting them when I ordered the truck. It would have been a $0 option.

FD . . Yep the fold. They fold nicely against the window. They also break away in the oposite direction (towards the hood) at about 50% travel.

I've been really satisfied with the performance so far. I just wish they sold a smaller supplimental mirror for the arm when its flipped up.

Remember . . this unit is NOT powered in any way! . . No electric adjustment or heat. Just so you won't be disappointed.

Michael

Michael,

Thanks. I know about the no power or heat. That's why I hesitated when I ordered my truck. Now I need something, and I like these the best. I'll just live without the power and heat. How far out are they when flipped out? I'm assuming they will be more than adequate for towing my TT. Is there any vibration?

Dave

When I was looking at trucks before I ordered, I took a tape measeure and checked the width of the stock mirrors and towing mirrors. The towing mirrors measured 8' 4" outside edge-to-edge when in the "in" position and 9' when folded out. I have not received the truck yet, but am anxious to see how it fits in the garage. The little lady isn't looking forward to walking around them when she gets out of her car. I think they'll be great for towing. I have heated power mirrors on my 98 Grand Cherokee. I think that in the three years that I have had it, that the heated faature has been helpfull maybe twice (I work at Denver Intl A/P and get snow and ice and wind alot). As to the power adjustment, my experience with driving my dad's late 60's vintage Dodge trucks with oversized mirrors is that with a larger mirror, that precise adjustment is not as important since the field of view is so much larger anyway. Beside's that, I'll probably be the only one driving it anyway. My $0. 005 worth.

Trailite 21' Travel Trailer, ~4000 lbs loaded.

Thanks for the info. I'm pretty sure this is the way I'm going to go (should have ordered them with the truck in the beginning!). I like my stock mirrors, but I need something, and I like the look of these better than anything else I've seen so far. I'd like to wait until they come out with power, but I need something in the next few weeks.
