EXTRA INSURANCE FOR 03 and 04

What's the story on the extra Warranty Insurance , Is it worth it? dont some of the policy's cost over 1000 dollars ? Has anyone ever used one? Do they Pay off?

Most of these policies are written by third parties. They are only as good as the companies writing them. There are hoorror shows about companies who wrote them, took peoples money, and them bankrupted, leaving people with useless coverage which they paid for.

If you're going to buy an extended warranty, get one from DC. I bought the "added care" policy for mine for 6 yrs/100k miles, it cost $1385. Covers about 90% of the truck.

Always buy Factory policies. never third party aftermarket.

Got the DC warranty from the dealer and did find out that for every 1k miles above 12K (starts at 12001) the price goes up 100$. Didnt ask at where it levels off, but I think you can only get factory till 36K. Was worth it on the y2k and if I never use this one, I'll about break even (or should I say DC will ) cause I still ahead from the lift pumps alone. And I think I will be using this one due to the "xtra" electronics the put on for 03 mdls.

PS: I would only buy factory due to the way those warranty policies read - usually no rental if overnite, too much p/w to be denied overnite stay(s) in motel/hotel and then they still dont want to pay :{ !

The policies can be negotiated on same as the buying of the truck. Try beating up a F&I guy. They will come down if business is slow.

Once "Broken" Twice Shy

We didn't buy the extended warranty on the 99, and one month 3 days after the warranty ran out, so did the vacuum pump to the tune of $1,700.



For the 03 we bought the 7 year 70k warranty for about $1500 negotiated at the time of sale, that covers about 90% of the vehicle.



The Piece of mind is worth it to us alone.



Also add us to the voices that have heard/read from several sources the inadequacies of non dealer warranties.
