I am tossed between a Buck Stop and a Tough Country replacement bumper. Both will be about the same weight. I am also ordering it with the winch platform. The winch will add another 120 pounds.

I am wondering what others have done for a little more suspension so the front does not sag. I am not interested in a lift kit at this time. I was thinking front Timbrens. Any thoughts ?

What if I run with the stock suspension ?

Thanks

Paul

Paul,

I think I'm going to put on Summit Racings D25 2. 5" coil springs for around $149/pair. I'll go with Bilstein's on the front at least at the same time (if I can ever figure out for sure what the correct part no. is. )

I think Jengle had posted to this (it was one of the posts lost in the database crash) and said his new bumper (which weighs over 200 lb) didn't seem to sag the front end at all. However, I fear that over time it might. You'd think these front springs would be extra-large wire-diameter for those who run a plow.

Oh well.

Which brings up the question, is there a heavier spring from dodge like what might be used on the snow plow option that would be a better choice that the 2 1/2 " coil springs? On the other hand, a 2 1/2" lift would make a nice opening for larger tires:)

I posted to this last night and now see that it's gone! Anyway, I've got just a trans4mer brushguard/winch mount with a 9000 # warn winch. I've got the Skyjacker D25 coils too. My truck started sagging once I installed the winch and mounts. Probably about an inch... . hopefully that will be the end of it. I would venture to guess that the bumpers being discussed here are much heavier than my trans4mer. Time to add spacers to make my truck level again!

I do not but I can try to get one. I saw a picture of another member's trans4mer a while back somewhere on here. It's a nice, sturdy set-up but not a lot of fun to install! I used mine quite a bit this last elk season and it's plenty stout enough to hold the 'ol ram.

I believe the trucks with the snowplow package come with springs #47 & #48.

From what I have read among different posts on the issue, replacing #46 & #39 with #48 & #47 (drvr & Psngr side), only gains about 3/4" in height. (am unsure if that was with a aftermarket bumper or additional weight on the front end though)

I'd guess a 3/4" lift with the heavier Dodge springs would get yo right back where you started my the time you added an additional 190 lbs. And, there is a chance the ride would be a little stiffer. I figured with the D25 2 1/2 lift that the front end would sure settle 1/2 inch or so. It seems that everything I've read on the D25's that people are satisfied with the ride and feel that it is an improvement.

My post disappeared. I have the 3500 with tow pkg, no plow pkg, but 4x4. I put a Buckstop on, but no winch. Can't tell any difference in ride. Didn't move the height. I can't feel any difference in the ride either. Put your weight or a buddies that is close to 200lbs on the front and see if it drops any. Won't tell you over time if it will sag, but will let you know if it drops on install. The Buckstop was an easy install, no drilling or fighting to line anything up. Just wrassle it into position and insert the bolts.

I was told when ordering my truck, '03 & (on the way '04), that you get the heaviest springs with the diesel motor, that's why you can't get the snowplow option with it.

Sort of. The reason you can't get the snow plow prep with a diesel, as I understand it, is that putting a plow assembly on the front end would exceed the front axle weight rating. So legally, Dodge can't sell it to you that way. That's what I heard, anyways.

Jengle,

It's been awhile... any sagging in your front end?
