After a short drive around town today I noticed heat & smelt a burning smell coming from the rear right wheel only. Yesterday my mechanic inspected rear discs & I hope looked for bearing leak found nothing. I suspect the parking brake is not fully releasing. Any comments.

The rear calipers don't wear much so they sit in the same position for a lot longer than the fronts. The pistons can tend to stick too. It is a good idea to do a brake fluid flush and a caliper piston exercise every few years to keep them free. I opened the bleeders, one at a time, at each wheel and compressed the pistons. I also had the brake pedal partly held down enough to close off the return fluid port in the master cylinder. This made sure the old fluid was leaving the caliper via the bleeder screw and not being pushed back into the master cylinder. At the same time, check and re lube the slide pins. Just did all that on my 2007 last year.

As I drill down on the situation it was obvious the mechanic was not dial in & simply took a short cut. Thanks
