Exxon diesel mixed with gas

Just thought ya'll might like reading something that happened yesterday. I was on 4 miles to empty so I pulled over at Exxon. After pumping $58 in Diesel I crancked her up and was on my way. I noticed after pulling back onto the freeway that my '03 sounder louder that my old '95. About every 10 seconds she would studder and spit out grey smoke. I pulled over and drained out a little fuel and bled the fuel lines thinking that I had picked up some water or some air since I ran it so low. Later I changed the fuel filter and still no help. So I took it to a dealer in Fort Worth for a diagnosis and the mechanic came back to tell me that the tank was about half full of unleaded. I called and got the managers # at the Exxon and she called the regional manager who said that they had no more complaints and that he would get the tanks checked on Monday. So anyway, I drained the tank and now have 30 gallons of mixed fuel all in buckets in the garage. I am hoping that Exxon will pay the $500+ dollars that the dealer wanted to drop the tank and all of the other little fees that have occured because of this. So if any of ya'll are in Weatherford TX on Hwy 51 & I20 I would not recomed getting fuel there.

YIKES! hate to hear about stuff like that... I generally fill up at truck stops, but today I found a pump in Balch Springs that was 1. 69... the Love's out on 30 was $1. 76!



the pumps looked very new and the fuel looked and smelled good, so I filled 'er up. I'll be going back



I ALWAYS pump a little fuel and look at it and smell it before filling up... EVEN at the truck stops. haven't been burnt yet, but I've read too many of these stories on the boards to get comfortable

That fuel should burn just fine in any gasoline tractor or lawn mower as long is it is a warm day. I'm sure it would be fine to put in your gas car too, though you may want to just put it in a little at a time.

This also happened to a co-worker of mine on his Ford PS when he filled up at a station in Greenville,TX a few months ago. I seen on the news not long ago that it happened to station in Dallas, but the transport dumped the diesel in the unleaded tank. May have to start caring a 5 gal jug to fill first an if every things a ok dump it in later. I got into the habit of asking for a cash ticket (on a cash deal) at every purchase of fuel in case something does come up an not get the "well sir how do we know you bought the fuel here".

i haven't purchased fuel with cash in a real long time [ever since i got credit cards] almost 90% of the time, i'll pay with my amex, and if they don't take it, i'll go with the visa. the machine will always print out the stub and i write my numbers on the stub [trip meter reset every tank,and total milage] and loose it somewhere inside the center console. if something does go bad, i can dig up my fueling records, and if the station won't do anything, the CC companies will when you light a fire under their rears

Cat... . what's a cat? Mine all ran away years ago. I forgot some folks still keep one around as a pet.



Anyway, if you still keep your cat, just burn your diesel/gasoline blend in your tractor. Or use it to clean parts. Or burn yellowjacket nests.

i like this idear best. soak it down with the fuel/gas mix, and then use some brake clean and a lighter for a flame thrower to light it off from a distance
