In Colorado the test is suposed to done as follows. On the Dyno in direct gear full throttle lug down to 60 mph, 50mph, and then 40mph, opacty is read after it stabeilizes at each speed. Max opacty can't exceed 20% on a Turbocharged engine. Automatic transmissions can down shift one time during the test.
Buy the way they are supposed to do a visual pre inspection of the engine, tampering with the electronic engine controls is an automatic failure, as is tampering if oem equiped with, catalist trap, egr, pump seals, pcv system
