I have a predicament, maybe. I have all of the mods in my sig, except for the gauges, they aren't installed yet.

I will be towing a 6k car hauler this weekend through the mountains to Rod Run in Pigeon Forge. I would like to keep the EZ on to make the pulling a bit easier.

-Should I be concerned about EGTs without a gauge and remove it to err on the safe side, or should I leave it on and not worry about it?

-What kinds of EGTs have people experienced with the EZ alone with exhaust and a filter?

I may have them installed by this weekend if my VP came in and I get my truck back today, but I'm planning for worst case scenario.

thanks in advance

No problem, like Bob said, don't lug it, keep it wound up around 2000 RPM's and you will be fine. When I had the Diesel Dynamics True Torque module on my truck with exhaust and filter, it never got past 1050 in the mountains even with 10K behind it.

I figured I would be fine.

I've never heard a definition of "lugging it" but I can use my imagination and guess. I usually keep the rpm's around the 2000-2200 range unless I'm on the highway doing 70+ where the 4. 10 rear end makes me run 2500 rpm or so.

Any other good driving tips to keep EGTs down. Do's and Don'ts please.

I know don't lug it (what rpm is considered "lugging it"?), what about coasting down hill in gear? Anything else I shouldn't do before I get my gauges in and can see what I should be doing?

Dn't mash the gas to the floor, that will raise em up a ton! And I consider anything below 1800 RPM loaded "lugging" it, and coasting downhill is no problem

Excellent, looks like I've been exercising proper driving techniques the whole time. Which is probably good because I won't have my gauges installed before we go. I really don't like service people anymore. Lazy Lazy bunch of people, nobody at Caterpillar is like that, thank God, I would have a fit if I had to work with people like them. They've had my truck for 5 business days just to replace my VP44, and I even told them what the problem was, no diagnosis required.

Thanks all for your help.
