Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) EZ and injectors

Last week I installed my EZ and guages ,After driving all Week I have gotten used to the power and and of course mant more. If I go with ddIIs can I babby the cluth for a while or should I go ahead and plan on refinancing the house the house and go ahead and get the clutch. ANd if I get the clutch should I go ahead and get the comp and just hope that satisfys me for a while.

Not a good sign!!

If you got used to an EZ in only a week there is no hope for your hp addiction. It will never end and it will cost a bunch... lol



My stock clutch stood up to 275's and comp for a while but it depends on the condtion of your clutch now and how you drive, if you tow and how much you play. If I could do the hole thing over I would have done the clutch first with one that will take all the power I will ever make and then add power at will/as you can afford. You might want to try stage 3's as a first step. Start saving for a clutch.

Clutches - You need to know where you are going to end up HP AND torque wise.



If you throw down the big money for the super duper clutch (800 hp/1600tq) and gradually work your way to that level for the next 2 years, you will hate the clutch for the entire time.



The same goes if you buy one then go over the levels for it, then you have to get another.



Building it right the first time saves money!



Know where you want to be and get the truck done that way in one shot.

We use our truck to tow a 13,500 lb 5th wheel RV - that puts us on the road at 10,380 lbs GVW (10,500 lbs GVWR) and 21,180 lbs GCW (21,500 lbs GCWR). With the EZ, the clutch never slipped in 15,000 miles. After adding the DD2's, the stock clutch slipped the same day when running empty and nailing the throttle at 1800 RPM in 5th gear.



Some clutches live with the EZ and injectors. Mine didn't. I'd budget accordingly.

That you will need to do. I've seen that with just 275's and a E-Z the clutch slipped in less than 10 mins:--) .

Guess my fears where right and I might as well start saving for the clutch first. I mainly pull lawn mowers and farm equip. i don't really think I want to go over 400 ponies because my truck also serves as the family vehicle for wife and 2 youngsters. Only because my truck is way cooler than the Maxima

When I put the comp box on it took 3 weeks to slip and just got worse till I got a SouthBend OFE. BTW My truck IS the family car better MPG and way cooler than a mini van.

I put the ez on 20,000 and DDII injectors on at 50,000 and my overdrive and torque converter is shot. New transmission is going in on april 9th I have 80,000 now good luck

DD2's and comp in ez mode. Had the ez in for couple of months and injectors for a couple of weeks now. Stock clutch hasn't slipped yet but it feels weak. I'm going to finish it off tonight by hooking the pump wire up. I'm sure the stock clutch won't hold 5x5 and dd2's. SB ofe on the living room floor ready to go in!
