Before doing my EZ I read a bunch of posts about the EZ. From some of them I got the feeling the EZ would change the trip computer milleage calculation. Thus far I have not seen much difference up or down, which I consider good, I did not expect 40 MPG from the EZ! ;) However, I am curious about 2 things.

1) How does the trip computer calculate milleage?

2) If it is assuming a certian amount of fuel for each revolution of the engine (fixed amount of fuel for each injection. ) Does the EZ affect this?

I don't have injectors... Yet! :) Well I _HAVE_ injectors, but they are stock. :D

Thanks,

IWeiny,

The trip computer uses throttle position to figure a fuel flow for a given power setting. If you put an EZ box and/or injectors in, your throttle will not be "as far down" to do the work that was figured in the factory algorithm. So, it figures that your still going X number of miles but based on where it sees the throttle position, you're using Y amount of fuel, and in the case of a BOMBed rig, way less fuel. Mine went from being about 0. 2 mpg off stock, to 3-4 off with an EZ and now it's about 5-6 off with the EZ and DDII's. Wish it wasn't, but alas, the math method after filling up has proven it every darn time!:(

I have an EZ in my 2500 and it has worked out great. I have done plenty of empty and loaded trips about 600 miles in distance. The only other mod to the truck is a K&N and my milage wint from 18 to 21ish with a light foot around 70-75. Thats with 4. 10s too! My computer has always been pretty accurate. When I am getting roughly 21 it reads 21. 6. Nothing beats calculating it, but in my case it has been really pretty close. Oh yea, thats with the EZ on jumper 3, most aggressive. Have fun!
