I'm about to call Piers and take them up on the $499 EZ during August. Need to know if anyone has had any trouble running an EZ in the ETC? Is there any way DC will know if you install it, something goes wrong, and prior to going into service you take it out?

Thanks,

Rick

In theory, no, there should not be a way that DC can figgure that you have one once you remove it. But... a couple of things have been mentioned on the board about knowing something has been done. First, it has been reported that some dealers question the velco that attaches the box to the Main fuse box in the engine compartment, second, the boost elbow has to be replaced with the stock one, and the clamp that comes with it is usually distroyed, so a hose clamp needs to be used and this could give it away. Save the scotchlock that goes to the pump, so that you can reinstall it for warrant work. Also, someone posted that Cummins has a scan tool that can find out how much fuel has passed thru the pump. Apparently this is not available to Dodge though. Nice Handle where you work?

I have had my EZ on for awhile now and have no complaints. The dealer will never know you have one. I wire tied the Box to a section of wire loom so there is no velcro "evidence" for the dealer to see.

As for the boost elbow, you dont need to install it anyhow, that is only if you have more serious mods like larger injectors, etc. On a stock truckwith just an EZ there is ZERO gain with a boost elbow. And if you have an 01', you cant use the boost elbow anyhow since the wastgate line is steel, not a hose. In that instance you use a . 22 shell and stick it in the line. A dealer would never know it was there unless they drove your truck or took the line out which is unlikley.

Take a small tool set from Napa or Kragen/Checker/Schucks and put some velcro on the bottom. Then attach it to the fuse/relay box when you remove the EZ to go in for warranty work. Fools em every time... :D :p

I have an '01 and I have a boost elbow installed with at least 8#s of boost increase. If you have a hardline then you have an HY35 and not an HX35. Sam

Ditto on Sam's post. If you have an ETC with the HX35, you will gain by using the boost elbow, I went from about 19 psi's to 28 psi's at WOT in the ETH with the HX35 turbo. You will also see lower egt's.

I have had no problems with my EZ in the last 2 months. I have a First Aid kit that velcro's down on the power distribution box when the box comes off. I used the 7/16 wrench (open end) to lift up on the factory crip clamp on the elbow as I pried (gentll) with a small screw driver--it slid right off, and did not distort the clamp at all. There is no way the dealer can tell the box was on, if you remove it. Execellent "Strealth Bomb".

You guys are right about gaining extra boost when using the elbow but what did it really do for you. With just the box and no injector upgrade your not going to have hi EGT's that would require additional boost. It really comes down to preference and whether you want it or not.

On my truck (01 ETH, I know the thread is talking about ETC's) I actually found that I had better acceleration with the stock elbow rather than with the Edge supplied elbow. My theory was that for the fuel I had going to the cylinders with only the EZ box (no injectors) The additional boost was causing a leaner condition in the engine.

Since I upgraded to Scheid Diesel's HI Flow injectors I definetely had to install the elbow because I had EGT's (post turbo) of 900+ with the stock elbow. I dropped that to 800 with the Edge elbow (36 psi boost).

Again personal preference, drive a few week with both scenarios on your trucks and make your own decision. :)
