Magna Flow 4in Exhaust System

Well that's the second time I've thrown that out there. Keith hasn't piped up yet. Could be prohibited by the contract between them.

I think DD would retard more units than PE would advance.

What I want is a programmer like the Mustang hot-rodders use. They can play with ALL the parameters. All we get to do is pick a box and hope it suits us.

For what it's worth, I may have a source to get the OEM style male and female data port connections so that a "on-off" switch could be installed on the Edge EZ. I already have the in cab rotary switch for the EZ (I can change between the three settings at will). Basically this will be the "Poor mans" version of the comp. Only three settings, not nearly as aggressive, the ability to use it as a boost fowler only, and it's not digital (manual switches, not electric).

Any interest out there? Available as a DIY, or complete units for $??. 00.

Hey Sticks,

How did you make the connections on the 3 pair of jumpers?

Is the bottom row a common?

Have you switched it running? I assume so, if so does it react in any way like a momentary hesitation post setting change? I like this Idea and want to do it.

Did you drill a hole in the end plate and seal it somehow? silicone maybe.

Thanks JJ

remote EZ

Hey Sticks,

I think it's a great idea to make a remote controller for the EZ - with 4 settings - Off, 1, 2 & 3. I've thought about getting a Comp just for the remote control because I don't want to pierce the pump wire. But that's too expensive for just for remote control.

Some others have done what you suggest using three position switches and different color LEDs to indicate the current setting. I'm ok with a rotary switch but definately prefer illuminated indication.

Let us know if you pursue it.

Thanks,

Neil

OK, how the wire harness was made, I don't know. It came with the EZ via PIF. With the parts I can duplicate it no problem. There is a legitimate plug that connects to the EZ jumper pins, there is a common row so you only have 4 wires. The back plate was drilled and a rubber grommet was used, in this case I would make a replacement plate with some fudge room. My replacement Edge was a little different.

I have switched on the move one time, and really did not notice anything, probably because the boost requirements were met. The rest of the switching was at idle.

I will need to get with the guy that made the original harness to see if the parts are readily available. I made the unit for switching, and the switch and box were obtained from Radio Shack. Lighting should not be a problem, just another power feed to the switch, and a higher cost of goods.

I may have to order a minimum of the OEM data plug connectors. I have no idea of the price or how many yet. My source thinks it might be five each (male and female). If this is so, I will need at least 4 other EZ owners to borderline commit if I am going to make the switch units. I will try to get a shopping list made up to get a total parts cost and a labor cost.

Of those semi interested, how much would something like this be to you? "This" being a small box with either a rotary switch and LED's, two rocker switches (one to select position 1,2, or 3 - and the other an on-off), or a combination of both. I only ask because cost may be more that people are willing to pay.

Better safe than sorry, PM me with the $$ to avoid TDR fiscal rule violations.

On a side note, anyone interested in a copied (read - duplicated from a purchased) high idler? Yet another person I know is working on that one.

Thanks Sticks

It would be Nice to find a 6 pin micro jumper with wire leeds already connected. May be time for a trip to radio shack. It would seem that the bottom row would be the common... . However sure don't want to guess on that one.

A quick update - we took a trip this weekend towing our 13,500 lb 36' 5th wheel RV. As reported earlier, after adding the DD2's there was no way the stock clutch was going to stand up to towing duties with the EZ plugged in.

I ran this weekend with the EZ's data link cable unplugged, but with the MAP cabling hooked up to enable the EZ to function as a boost fooler. This really softened up the quick rise in torque that I was experiencing with the EZ and DD2's. The trip went fine - I never came close to slipping the clutch, and max pre-turbo EGT was around 1200 degF at 32 PSIG boost. Smoke was almost non-detectable, which is not the case with the EZ plugged in and the jumper on setting #2 or #3!

The SBC Con OFE is sitting on the workbench waiting to go in. At least in my case, the stock clutch is going to have to be replaced if I'm going to tow with the EZ fully functional and with the DD2's installed. Based on my experience, though, unplugging the EZ's data link cable will allow one to run larger injectors without slipping the stock clutch when towing heavy.
