Does anyone know what company makes the EZ Change drain plug that Genos Garage sells? I have one on my Cummins and it's great but I want to get one for my motorhome and one for my wife's Jeep. I don't think that they are the same size as the Cummins.
If memory serves, Femco fabricates the EZ Drain, drain plug that Geno's Garage sells. I purchased one JUST after Geno's started selling them, two years ago or so. I still think it's the best drain plug going!
I like mine except on the 2nd change with it, it started leaking around the copper washer. One drawback is you have to remove the plug completely to drain the last 3/4Q of oil. After reinstalling and torquing it to 40ft/lbs it leaked quite badly. Robin at Geno's gone an entire replacement sent out to me ASAP, got it only 2 days after calling (thanks Robin!!).
I am going to see if I can find more copper washers locally incase this happens again.
Even though I remove the plug after draining most of the oil (to get the last bit) it is a much slicker and cleaner oil changing operation to say the least!
Could you possibly cross-drill some holes in your plug so all the oil will drain out without removing it? I did that with my "Finger-Touch Drain Valve" and it works. Oo. Oo.
Upon the first oil change after the installation of my EZ Drain, drain plug I checked to see how much oil was actually left in the bottom of the oil pan... it was nowhere near 3/4 of a quart (in my engine)... more like a small Dixie cup full.
I ran into the same leaking problem when I switched to synthetic oil. Put the stock plug back in and just two nights ago changed to summer oil and installed new Geno's. Noticed oil leakage again this morning. Will try to tighten the plug some more tonight. I also got some extra copper crush washers. It seems they are only meant to be used once. If my new Geno's continues to leak with the 15-40 Amsoil, I'm going back to Rotella.
Just saw an add on TNN this past weekend during one of the automotive shows. Fram is now marketing a drainplug that looks just like the EZ, with the tube included.
