Hey not sure if this is new or not but i was at a local Rv show this weekend. BD Power had a display there. They had on the table a vp44 pump cover that enabled a comp box to be hooked up without cutting the pump wire. The cover had a small hole and some special wiring that connected the contact under the cover. Apparently this was so warranty wouldn't be void. Thought this was a good idea. Was wondering if anybody has seen this anywhere else.

just remember even though the wire may show no or little damage all of the engine's parameters are shown in the software.

so even if the pump tap is not obvious the software can still void your warranty.

there no cheating here, if you want to play then be ready to pay :(

In case your wondering what it was, its refered to as the BlueChip Pump cover, runs around $50. Its a handy way to connect but as Bob said, if a person knows where to look you'll know what the pump has been through.

Considering that most dealers can't figure out how to turn on the high idle, I wouldn't worry that they are going to know what the information is telling them.

well fry a 3000$ pump(Dodge prices) and they start looking real close at stuff. Dodge sent out a memo last year about the blue chip cover to dealers, they know about it. It is not as obvious as a scotch lock but the nick is still visible. Like Bob said, play = pay and I don't have a problem with that.

PUMP COVER

Here goes some BIG IF’S , if you work at a dlr or if you know of a mechanic that works at a dlr then that cover is the best way to go . I still think if I didn’t work or know of anyone at a dlr it still is the best thing to do if it’s under warranty. You can remove all the wiring and cover before you take it in , or do you want to leave it and pay????? I would much pay the 50. 00 for the cover and if it needs to be replaced then remove the mods and not pay the high dollars to replace it... just my . 02

I run that Blue Chip pump cover. My truck has NEVER been back to the stealer and at 40,000 miles I hope it never well. But there is another reason to run the cover. First of all I painted mine black to help conceal it some it came white. But the real reason is that the cover makes a very good connection for the wire. The Scotch Lock keeps coming loose on mine and would make the truck jump at a light at times and under WOT. Not any more.

Thanks guys that is some good info. Haven't had to deal with the dealer to much yet but the truck goes in next wed for low lift pump pressure so well will see what they do with that.
