Hey guys,

I'm planing on getting some new injectors as soon as I decide which ones to go with. I would appreciate it if some of you who are running an EZ + ( 275's/DD1's or DD2's)would give me an idea of how much smoke to expect. I don't mind a little smoke but I want to be able to see if a cop is behind me :D

Thanks,

Kevin

Kevin,

My setup used to be an EZ + DDII's. This is a real nice setup for all around use. The smoke level is very manageable on all settings. If you are really worried about smoke go with the DD Ultimate Fueling module or the PE-Comp, both allow you to fuel below factory settings to compensate for larger injectors..... Hmmm if you went with either of the above then you could go with DD III's and ... ... . Oh well just a thought.

I'm at sea level and have miniscule smoke with the EZ on setting three. Some have said that the DD2's smoke less than DD1's.

BTW, this is a very nice combo with DTT transmission.

This is a great combo! No smoke at all during normal driving. Barely noticible smoke when I nail it while moving. Nice little smoke screen when I nail it from a dead stop. Elevation is around 850'.

Great setup for towing. No EGT problems at all for me. See my sig for other mods.

I've ran the EZ box and DD2's for about the last year. I can say that it is a very nice combo, LOTS of power.

Azcummins... to answer your question. Even at our altitude the smoke is very manageable (though way beyond emission requirements). If I wanted to, at an intersection, I could make the car behind me disappear in all of my smoke. Just to give you a rough idea of how bad they smoke.

Hope this helps

I'm at 7200 ft with a stock HO and an EZ box.

It'll lay down a smoke screen like a coal burning locomotive from a dead stop with the EZ in position 3.

I had to move the EZ to pos. #2, and it still smokes some, but not as bad in pos. #3. It's controllable by how much you lay into it.

In pos. #2, dragging all of the stuff in the sig. , I can pull the eastbound hill to Eisenhower Tunnel at 65 mph cruise right at

1200* EGTs.

The dd2's & ez combo is great. This is probably the Ideal set up for all around performance. Would make an excellent towing package as well. No smoke at normal driving conditions. All you would need is DTT trans. & piers' hx-35 super turbo and you'll have one sweet set up. :)

Ok...come drill me now... .

ha ha ha ha... that was a good one Mark. Wail till you drive my truck... . You'll change your mind really quickly about lik'n that Auto setup... . LMAO

I just put in DDIIs,Trans can't handle it. will be taking care of that on friday. :D Piers had the best price and you don't have to send him the old ones. mike

I have the DDII's and the TTPM (EZ) set on #2. Smoke is controlled by the pedal on the right. :D

Any of the combinations will smoke if you hammer the throttle before boost builds up. To burn more fuel you have to have more air.

One other item to consider; the DDII's spray pattern generates lower EGT's than the DDI's (Lawrence at DD will confirm this) despite the greater power.

The verdict is in!!

Thanks guys,

It sounds like DD2's are the way to go. Does anyone know if Piers is still the cheapest place to get them? I know I seen some tips on installation here but I can't find them. Does anyone have the link?

I have already spoke with some fellow members of TDR about installing a Southbend clutch for me when the time comes( Which shouldn't be long with EZ+DD2's and a heavy foot;) ). This place is great, thanks for the help.

BD2's and DD2's

Thanks Katdiesel,

I sent you a PM with my Email. What differences are their between DD2's and BD2's? Price? Power? Performance? or just personal preference? I know I'm asking alot of questions but I like to try and make informed decisions.

Thanks,

Kevin

Specific differences? I don't really know I can't say I have only ran Diesel Dynamic III's. I was just giving you some options is all. I love my DD III's but I am going to borrow some BD V's for a day or so to see how it reacts on my truck. I can also get a killer deal on some BD IV's right now which I intend to do, if I don't like them I'll sell'em for what I paid for them.
