LOUD ticking noise at idle

I just switched my box to level 6 and took a quick spin out the road. It feels a little stronger and smokes way more than level 4, but I haven't had the chance to load it yet. Probably won't til I load the horses up Friday.

I know I read some time back that Edge Products didn't recommend using level 6 ... ... has anyone experienced adverse effects by using level 6?

Kinda curious

On another note, I pinched off the wastgate hose without the box and hit 30PSI, but it fell on it's nose and wouldn't rev up!!

Are there any figures supporting higher boost pressures? I can hit 40PSI with the box on 4, and I suppose maybe a couple more on 6 ... ... . but is it beneficial at all?

Ut Oh ... ... ... ..... shouldn't have pinched the wategate hose without the box, got a "P0234 Turbo Boost Limit Exceeded".

I think I just answered the second part of my initial question. :D

I'm with you Parshal, I like my truck on #6, and I'll leave it there unless it starts acting goofy!

I guess I should qualify my original statement. I did have a little rougher idle on level 6. I run mine on level 3 but not because I'm afraid of messing something up. It feels just about right on level 3.

I installed a boost fooler on mine and on the dyno anything above 30 PSI makes the computer mad and it pulls out timing and then there is a loss of power. I now have mine set at 29 and it seems to like it and put down the best numbers on the dyno at that number.

Won't the EZ (or any box) allow higher fuel/boost pressures without the puter backing it down?

The Bully Dog box that I have won't allow for more boost. We are not sure why yet, but I watched it back off the power. I should have some dyno graphs to look at by next week. And next time I'm at the dyno I plan to take my laptop with my OBDII software and log some other parameters and see if we can figure out exactly what it's doing and why.

My one dyno run it pegged 36-37 pounds, computer did something and the boost dropped to 25 or so and then it picked right back up.

Power Edge EZ: 37 PSI Boost/1250* EGT's

BullyDog Torque Dog: 42 PSI Boost/1400* EGT's

I have been running an EZ since it was put out in November. The Torque Dog has been on my truck since it was a prototype. Only off for reprogramming. I have never experienced a loss of Boost on level 3 on the Torque Dog. The EZ on level 6 is fine. Run her as hard as you can. You'll like it. I even stacked both boxes for quite an interesting experiment. Not recommended but fun. Can you say SMOKE!!!!!! Lots of smoke. Shudders, timing noises, surges and lots of HP. Bad feeling inside too. With both boxes I hit 48 PSI boost pressure:eek: Not recommended!!!

I do run her as hard as I can Greg, lol.

This is coming from a guy who just sold out and quit sprint car racing, hehe, this is my racer now! It's actually quite amazing how quick this Cummins moves 8000# down the road ..... my sprinter was 800HP and 1200#, so I have the SOP feel!

I thought about backing the box down, but you never know when an opportunity will present itself to blow the doors off of something:D

I'm pulling it on Labor Day at an open pull, we'll see how that goes ... ... ..... the clutch and wheel hop scare me the most.

P. S. Lincoln, if you are reading this, tell Sherry I am due for a haircut. Tell her to schedule my appt. when you are there so you can take this thing down the road ... ... ... ..... you'll start BOMBing your 03 too ;)

Is that too antagonistic?

LOL, Tuesday @ 9AM it is!

You really should subscribe, the mag is only issued quarterly, but well worth the price of admission ... ... ... . plus you get to harrass people on here too!:D

thanks,

Using the same pin location, use two jumpers and set them on the two left set of pins. A single jumper on the left pin is setting 5. Some of the newer ones apparently don't have these two settings, though.

JHardwick---- Took your advise and subscribed. Don't know why I waited so long. Guess the same reason why I haven't started Bombing the truck, find it hard to release the money. By the way Sherry said that has to be the most unusual way that anyone has every made an Appt. Sorry I Won't be there Tuesday I would like to see what these trucks can really do. Where are you pulling on Labor Day?

Hey LLLytle, you won't be dissapointed. Besides complete access to the site, the mag. makes for some very informative reading!

I'll be pulling at the Labor Day festival in Stoutsville. I'll be camping that weekend too, so I hope I don't break something or the horses will be stranded @ Tar Hollow horsemans camp
