These two are 6?

that seems wrong... .

I have only three sets of pins on my RIGHT bank :

not like above -- : : . : : what apears to be five sets of pins

on the same note, i called edge and asked if the 3 day old EZ i just bought had the 5 & 6 levels, and he said they all will unless manually pins are removed... which mine aren't . .

weird huh?

Level 6 is as follows "::: XX:" the "X" represents where the jumpers need to go. Had mine on it a week with no problems. I don't really run mine that hard though... no need to with it on level 6. Its almost hard to drive smooth unloaded with it on 6 cause the throttle is so responsive! :D

Let me jump on this thread with a boost elbow question. I've been running my EZ since last December, but never installed the boost elbow. I think I have a little better understanding of it now, and am interested in installing it, but have one question:

With the boost elbow installed, if I remove the EZ (boost fooler function) during scheduled maintenance visits to the dealer (as I always do), am I likely (with normal driving, plus whatever the dealer does) to set an overboost code?

BTW, I've run the EZ mostly on Level 6, plus some 3 & 4, for about 27,000 miles since December.

I have no problems on level six for over 10,000 miles with E-Z boost elbow,No codes just power. I have never seen higher than 30 on boost gauge,or exhaust more than 950.

mgonske, did not notice any codes w/o box, only 27# w/o box with the elbow in. Definitely missed the extra fuel though!! TW, your #'s seem a little weak for level 6 !! Mark

TW is your egt probe before or after the turbo? I can easily get egts above 950 on level 6 with my probe before the turbo. Just pulling a load at 75mph egts are around 800 on flat ground. With the addition of a hill they will climb to 950 to 1000. However they don't really seem to pass the 1k mark that often. Unless I want them to. :D I agree though the power is awsome! Oo.

JD SLV 03 , It is post turbo right after elbow,It is within 1/2 inch of the collar,I have pull up to 30,000 to the land fill,I have scale tickets and pictures,Empty weight is 15,240. I have a SO 47RE. Also had two V10 before the Cummings the V10S WERE GREAT TRUCKS. BUT MY CUMMINS I LIKE MORE .

JD Do you have the E-Z elbow install,I notice a big drop after the installation.

An even better question would be... .

Once you install the boost elbow, the stock hose clamp and elbow are gone. When going to the dealer, one can easily replace the elbow and re-attach the hose, however putting on the stock clamp is another story. I have the Edge and yes, I want to put the elbow on badly. What is a guy to do? Anybody have imput on this little quandry?

HELP!

Big Daddy Mc, It was a risk a was willing to take,I talk to the people at both Cummins and edge, Both agree that 400 or less HP with max of 30 boost pressure would be safe, anything above this would require more changes.

Ok, I have a question. When you change settings do you need to have it unpluged or turned off? Can you change them with the motor on?

The reason I am asking is... . I have a few computer cases that have wires that can hook up to the jumper pins. If I was to hook these wires to the box an then to a turn switch in the cab... would it work to adjust the box?

imagine if that was possible... . you could have three toggles switches, labeled 1 , 2 , 3 ---- > / / /

and then flip them according to the manual, you could adjust in seconds... .

EDGE: is this possible?

even if you went to none hooked up(switches flipped) for a moment, that would be like setting 1, so it would still run... .

any one have any other thoughts?

I'm with Mark here too. I can bang out almost 40 lbs of boost and 1350* no problem on level six. I have also set a code at top speed, 106 mph when the governor sets in I set a code. Both trucks both times.....

TW,

So your probe is post turbo... 950* would be about right then. I did install the boost elbow the day I put the box on so I don't know what the temps would have been before. Sounds like they would have been pretty high with it on level 6! With my probe pre turbo I have seen temps (according to my gauge anyway) peak at about 1375* and then drop back off to around 1200 if you keep your foot in it till it shuts down.

Pulled my heaviest load today, grossed around 21k. Only pulled a short distance but I didn't really see egts get much above 800*. I bet pulling that kinda weight at 70-75 on a long grade would get egts into the 1200's though. Really though nothing to worry about in my eyes. I really enjoy this Cummins and the truck too!!

Greg, I think it has to do with IT Is a S/O, It will out pull my HO, I bought the S/O In Oct 2002,the HO In MAY 2003, The HO IS Still stock because I like my S/O so much. I NEEDED A SECTION 179 LAST YEAR FOR TAXES. I Have put the Box on my HO But I don"t have gauges on it. I Known I Will get in trouble for this comment.

How are the 6 speed clutches holding up on level 6? Should I bump it down to lets say about level 3 for a sled pull... just to be safe?

I have only run Level 6 with light loads (14,580 GCW--but that included high speed on the big grades on I-70 in Colorado) and empty, but have had no clutch problems. I've pulled the big load (22,780 GCW) in Colorado on Level 4 with no clutch problems (yet?).

Level 6 works great!!! I kinda droped the clutch at the start... and thought it was all over when the rpms went below 700. Then all of a sudden that box kicked in and the truck came to life! It was awesome.
