Ez oil drain plug

Has any installed a ez oil drain plug on 03 or newer truck. How do you like the setup Pros and cons please Thanks Rhino50

It works great. I can now change my oil without getting a drop on the ground. The factory plug was fine but the oil would just come gushing out with a lot of force. I had it drop and fill the drain hole in the oil tub and that make the other 9-10 quarts wound up on the garage floor.

Like DArndal said, I had a oil wave trying to go in the pan, overflow on the floor etc. . Not since the EZ drain has been on.

I had the same oil mess after my first oil change. I ordered the ez drain and now it makes me want to Oo. everytime i change the oil. Two thumbs up.

How far below the pan does this plug extrude? We used fumoto valves on all our big trucks with my previous job. It made changing oil a breeze. However the oil drain plugs were on the side of the pan not on the bottom. I was not aware that there might be a quick drain thin enough to work on the bottom of our pans.



It would sure make oil changes cleaner. I have no problem with the initial gush of oil; it is toward the end that makes the most mess. The oil comes out the hole and expands out along the bottom of the pan before dripping into my almost full bucket, the resulting splashes pepper my floor with oil.

I did mine also during the first oil change, well worth the money. It extends down, maybe a 3/8" below the bottom of the oil pan. It does make change oil a breeze.

I really like the ez drain plug. I had one on my 97 and now have one on my 03.

I was wondering just how safe this plug is. Any problems with leaking. I would like one to make oil changes less messy, but do not want to risk any problems. Thanks,

I don't know the exact figure, but I know I have over 100,000 miles on mine without a leak or problem.

The EZ Drain/fumoto valve is one of the best investments I've made to the truck. No leaks, no problems in almost 3 years.

No leaks after 53,xxx miles, makes it nice if you want to take a oil sample. Or if you dump your old oil back into jugs. You can start and stop the flow anytime during the oil change. I dont use the hose that came with it, still in the box in the tool box.

Radar Doctor, The EZ dp for a 99 will not fit an 03. The 99 is a 22mm and the 03 is a 18mm.

Are we talking about the finger touch valve that is around $20. Or the more expensive valve with the hose that attaches to it. Genos sells both.

Of course I've got a Fumoto on my '04, but I've had them on everything I've owed since 1979, mostly low clearance cars that would only accept a $2 4" aluminum bake pan for oil drains. They are well engineered... I've owned over 20 of 'em over the last 26 years and paid anywhere from $5-$23 over the years for new valves. I have altered the thickness of the gasket several times so that the lever was in a "safer" attitude when properly torqued. Just take care when installing to get a good seal.
