Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) EZ Problem/ Question

Hi Turbo Dudes

I have an EZ on my truck and am happy with the way it works. I recommended a friend get one for his 02 long bed with auto and 3. 73s

he did and went to install the supplied wast gate elbow and found he had no place to put it. he has guages and says his psi never excedes 20psi. so he must have a waste gate. He has a cal truck. Do california trucks have mechanical waste gate control or somthing?

I think automatic trucks have an hy turbo. I dont know what years. it was after 2000. my truck came with an hx. he will most likely need a j-hook. Im sure someone with this year truck will have the exact info.

any one out there with an EZ and an automatic transmission on an 01/02

know what the trick is to bafling the waste gate without a pressure diaphram.

yes, he needs a j-hook. Does the same thing as a boost elbow but it is used on the hy's. Any diesel shop should be able to get you one.

When I bought the EZ for my 02 it came with a j-hook and boost elbow. If I remeber it was more expensive for an auto transmission because of the HY turbo needing the j-hook.
