Rip handed my Edge EZ over to UPS today. It should be in my hot little hands soon. Oo.

Can any one tell me just exactly what this little box will do to my injection timing & boost pressure?

E-Z

Word to the wise GET IT IN BEFORE YOU PUT IN THE BOX. Rip's a REAL NICE guy to deal with. I can tell you what you'll be doing when you get the box in:D :D :D :D

It will advance the timing across the board, which will make it slightly more responsive and increase the bottom-mid range power. The biggest power hit felt like 1800-2200 rpm. The downside of the advance is the higher cylinder pressures that it creates, and for our higher compression ETH's that's not a good thing. Not really bad for an otherwise stock motor, but if you add larger injectors or get the boost much over 40psi-ish the head gasket might not hold up. Also, the advanced timing will make the engine sound and feel a bit more rough (not bad, just noticeable) and will cause the engine to hammer pretty hard at lower rpms under a load or accelerating. It does improve mileage a bit (about 1/2mpg for me) and gives a nice seat-of-the-pants power improvement.

With just the EZ and your intake and exhaust mods I don't think you could hurt the motor EGT wise (as long as you install the elbow). The only time I saw 1,200 degrees pre-turbo was after sustained full throttle hill climbs in sixth above 8,000' with a 10K fiver in tow. Down here in the flatlands I'd have to work to see 1,000 deg empty. Boost will be about 26-28 psi, maybe 30 if you keep your foot in it long enough.

Thanks PC12. That's the kind of information I've been looking for. I do have EDM 1. 5's on order also. It looks like I'll need to budget for fuel system & clutch upgrades too.

The 1. 5's and the EZ will make an excellent combo! Even with my 2's I have yet to see egt's over 1,200 degrees (I haven't pulled yet, though). The EDMs added a bunch of power across the rpm range, improved the mileage, and added a cool romp-romp-romp idle when I'm maneuvering in first and reverse. Good stuff!

With just the EZ and my old LP I could pull the fuel pressure down to 5psi or less. With the new LP, the Wildcat Max Flow kit, the injectors, and the EZ I can pull the FP down to the high 9's. I went with the Max Flow kit mainly to keep the factory filter and lift pump, since they're pretty well available anywhere in the country if something goes wrong. That, and it will handle all the fuel I'll need for the mods I'm planning. The price was right, too.

And yeah, the clutch won't be hanging in there very long with the EDM's and the EZ. My best fuel mileage this winter was when I was babying my stock slipping clutch before I could get the OFE installed. Nothing worse than having the toys and not being able to play with them!

With my mods (see signature - EZ and DD2's), I made 347 BHP and 761 lb-ft torque last Saturday at the LSTDR Dyno Day. Towing our 5th wheel, I see 1225 degF preturbo EGT (so far - the injectors went in this winter) at 34 PSIG boost.

My stock clutch slipped running empty the first day the DD2's were in. Nailing the throttle at 1800 RPM in 5th gear was too much for it.
