Engine Oil Temp Gauge?

For those that have tried the EZ module on some of the other settings than the default number 1 setting, which do you prefer? Any difference in mileage? Just curious.

Benson, it's too much fun in the highest setting. I don't want to delay the fun. Plus 275 injectors help that too.

Seriously, mileage was very close to before the box, now that the transmission mods are in, it is actually higher, especially in the city driving. Much tighter transmission. Around 2 MPG better in the city.

Benson, I have put my EZ on the second setting to be safe on my transmission until Bill K installs his VB and TC. As far as which do I prefer? I would have to say the Second setting. I noticed that the only benefit in my truck of having the EZ on the default setting is for racing off of the line. With my box on the 2nd setting, I don't have as much power off of the line, but the truck seems to be a little stronger in the mid RPM range.

Just so you know, I have been told that the the EZ box doesn't kick in until 10lbs of boost on setting 1 and 15lbs of boost on setting 2. I am not sure about the 3rd setting, I have been told 18 and 20lbs of boost.

But on either setting, my mileage hasn't changed at all.

Kev

I installed one the other day and I can't tell you how much time I spent on the test drive with the box in position #3. 1 and 2 are fun, but 3 was beyond my expectations.

Thanks guys, I may give the number 2 spot a try. My thinking is that it may be a little easier on the clutch since RPM's would be a bit higher when the EZ starts to do its thing. As it is now, I can slip the cluch at will with an empty truck even, not good. At some point I am going to need a heavier clutch.

I think you have passed that point long ago. #ad

JNutter, if that is the case, mine came with the jumper on the #3 setting. I'm not sure about this. My understanding of the EZ is that the only real difference in the settings is the RPM's where the boost occurs. They are supposed to come with the jumper on the #1 port but mine is on the far right. I'm not sure about this though as my boost comes early in the RPM's (1500 or so).

<font color=blue>Couple of things... .

First off I think you have a slight misunderstanding of the purpose of those three settings. The reason there are three settings is strictly for smoke control with other modifications. It basically sets when the fuel is added from the EZ at a "specific" boost level. I do not have the exact numbers of what each setting is boost level wise but I will try to ask Brett this weekend. Hope that explains that part of it a lil better?

Secondly, when looking at the jumpers make sure you are "Facing" the EZ box and have the EZ PC board to your left. With the box in this position the most aggressive setting is all the way to the right furthest away from the PC board. The "least" responsive or where the fuel comes in at a much higher boost level is closest to the EZ PC board, all the way to the left.

Does that help clear it up any?

Got mine yesterday. Tossed it on the back seat and thus far have noticed no change in performance. Have read distructions many times and still can't figure where the other wire goes. Plan on putting box under pillow tonight to absorb material. All kidding aside: I am excited about the product. Looks neat and I think once I get the hang of it, should go on and off easily. CONCERN: On one of the threads yesterday, someone said that the EZ advances the timing too far for towing. Is this fact or fiction? How would I know? I do not drag race, I tow. Anyone know?????????????

Please tell me what is an "EZ" or EZ edge" as i have seen the posts say? What does it do?

Kat, yes, that clears things up a bit. It confirms my recent test drive as well. I placed the jumper on the far left setting and the kick is much more subdued and comes in at higher RPM's. I'll probably try the middle setting next. The default setting (on the far right) is a little rough on my stock weakling clutch.
E7Mack96, The Poweredge EZ is an electronic module that boosts fueling and advances the timing in the electronically controlled 24 Valve engines.

Had EZ riding around in the back seat for a few days. No performance increase noticed. Read instructions again. Installed EZ Module on engine as instructed. Felt a little stronger than my VA. Installed boost elbow supplied with kit. Now we're cookin'. 25 PSI boost on guage. Up about 5#. Now much stronger than VA. Will report on towing Monday as I have to pull a 35' Jayco Designer Double Slide. Y'all have a good weekend!

Pine Sap, you have the ETC motor and your hard lined to the wastegate. On earlier models the elbow coming out of the compressor side of the turbo had a brass fitting that could be changed, yours won'tchange it rigid. Pete

So are these EZ modules going to doom our fuel pumps? Do you suppose the larger fuel lines would be advisable?
