IF someone was to put an EZ on and did not disable the wastegate (it is hardlined), what effect, if any, would there be on performance, mpg, etc. etc. ?
Just curious.

Thanks
Bill

I believe your EGT's would go sky-high fast, because the additional fuel w/o the additional boost would run too hot. The hardline modifications aren't that difficult to accomplish - you should do the "whole package" with fueling -and- boost enhancements, or do neither one and stick with the stock configuration. Just my two cents' worth!

In addition to higher EGT's,your new found power will get cut off once you hit about 22psi of boost. Do it right or don't do it at all.

Thanks for the responses, was just wondering. Did it right, I think, used the turn buckle method.

Romeo,

I installed an EZ on my rig a week or so back. I also installed the boost elbow supplied with the EZ, but the instructions sheet from EDGE said the installation of this elbow was optional... don't remember the exact verbage, but I remember they said the EZ would work fine with or without the elbow. I don't believe they would make this statement if this set-up would result in prohibitavely high EGT's.
Be that as it may, why are you hesitant to modify/disable the wastegate? It's no trouble at all, and you can then reap the full benefits from the exrta fueling.

Honestly I think my truck ran better without the boost mod. I do not know what my EGTs were as my EGT and Boost guages were riding in autometer boxes in the back seat lol.

Is it possible to get a bad boost elbow?? My truck runs great! But I only see 24 psi of boost(all IC hoses tight) 25 if I stay in it for all 5 gears. And 24psi pulling about a 5-6K load. From what I have read alot of people are seeing more boost than this with just the EZ alone.

Bad340fish:

you are seeing the right boost for an other wise stock unit. 30# is normal for bigger injectors and an EZ or VA

get 30# w DD2's and EZ

got 24 # w DD1's or VA

got 38# w DD2's and HO ECM no EZ or VA

Bad Fish,

With the EZ only and the elbow, the highest I saw was 27 lbs.

As far as the EZ without the elbow, I tested one that I borrowed and I didn't disable the wastegate. The only major difference that I noticed was a little more smoke. The EGT's may be slightly different, but nothing that worried me.
