I'm considering getting the FASS to save myself from being left sitting because of lift pump failure (it's got 46K now).

I have two questions:

1) Are there any high mileage FASS systems installed? I'd like to be assured it really will last longer than the stocker.

2) Has anyone actually noticed an improvement in MPG with it installed?

TIA

Scotty

No change in MPG. It is louder than the stock LP, only noticeable at idle in the cab. I do have the hard start when hot symptom but it is not horrible, extra cranking only when extremely heat soaked.

I have had my fass system (150gph) installed about 8 months. So far so good. Maybe post in the second gen site also for some long term fass users. coobie :D

What size FASS are you running John?

95GPH. It's not loud, but I can hear it at a stop sign. The first time I noticed it I thought something was going south..... then I realixed it was my FASS pump.

Thanks for the input guys, I run the TST at 2/2 99. 5% of the time (best level for MPG)with occasional play time at 4/4 so I dont know how bad I really need the FASS. I've been to 6/7 about three times (last time I blew the stock clutch and I think I saw God).

I'm even considering just getting a stock pump f/ Cummins and being prepared to install it on the side of the road if need be.

Is there some way to decrease the FASS fuel pressure by changing springs or something to prevent the hard start syndrome? Maybe add a regulator from Jegs?

I would recommend the FASS system . I have had mine on for about 4K. I put it on for performance reasons , I was drag racing and running the rail dry. But I drive my truck every day too. I have the 150 GPH . I noticed allot better Throttle response an a little bit better fuel mileage just going from the overhead. And the noise isn't that noticeable.

I've had the FASS system on my truck for 47,000 miles now, only problem I ever encountered was the Brush issue, they had a bad run on the brushes this was at about 10,000 miles, maybe alittle less after first install and it quit, but your FASS still has a bypasss buit on it and your truck will still run just dont hot rod it as you will have no fuel line pressure as the CP-3 is suction siphoning itself for the fuel, they sent me some new prototype brushes never had a problem since. I can't say I noticed a mpg increase or power increase(I'm already going threw the roof on power now)but I did see my EGT climb rate cut in half, still will get hot, but takes a lot longer to get there, alittle smoother idle also, hope this helps, I like mine, just plumb it so you keep your Factory fuel heater or run the coolant lines per instructions to the FASS unit

It would be nice if they would of gone with a brushless motor setup like Racor did. Just a little more bullet proof

Well I installed it yesterday, It does appear to be brushless now and the life span is supposed to be 6 to 800,000 miles.

The pump is much more quiet than I thought it would be, I can't hear it in the cab and I can only hear it outside when I'm standing w/i a few feet of it. The quality of the kit is first class - nicest wire harness I've ever seen in an aftermarket item.

Thanks everybody for your input.

Scotty, which size did you go with? I need to decide with in the next day or so which one I want to go with.

Get the 150. I was worried about it but now I'm glad I have it. You can only hear it at idle, if at all.

Mine lasted about 2. 5 months. Haven't talked to them about it yet. Put a holley blue in there now. I needed something to drive that day, couldn't wait for mail and phone calls. There's something to be said for local availability.

I got the 95 GPH hoping it would be more quiet and figuring I would never need more.

Kevin, You mean your FASS only lasted 2. 5 months? What happened to it?

I installed mine (95/150) last thanksgiving... now have at least 7k on it... love it.

They are brushless now... and the kit was a breeze (more or less) to install.

Between my Rakkteck and FASS, I average 20mpg on the highway (see my sig)... and winterized fuel no longer causes a mpg drop. Best mod I did to date... I did leave the entire stock fuel system in place as a back up since it doesn't hurt anything.

I have a 150 Fass. Have just over 140,000 miles and 3 years of use on it with no problems. I have is tucked up inside the cavity just infront of the left rear wheel well. Stays clean and I can get to it, you can just barely see the filters below the bottom of the side. ;)

I don't know yet. I was driving down the road, looked down and saw fuel pressure at 2lbs. Pulled over, shut the truck off, then cycled the pump a couple times. Noticed it was really quiet, and pressure never came back up. Took it off and put on the holley.

Go with the AirDog. http://www.pureflowtechnologies.com/ This unit was designed for our trucks. The FASS system uses parts from commerical applications the size is way overkill. Also no reason for 150 GPH if your only going to run 500-550 HP unless you get a fuel cooler too.

The problem with the Airdog is the cost, unless they have fixed this. I spoke with them awhile back and it was over $1000.

500+hp in a pickup is overkill;) Better than under-supplied I suppose.
