I currently have the Di Pricol f. p guage, you know the one with the isolator and the clear plastic tube filled with antifreeze going to the guage. Well I say anifreeze mine has fuel in it. When sitting still at idle the pressure reading starts rising and won't stop until I shut the truck down and it seems like it only does it on really warm days. If I shut the truck down and let it cool off it's ok for a few weeks. Could my problem be with the isolator? I was thinking about getting the fuel filter cap from Genos and attatching the plastic line to the 1/8" port on the top of the cap. Basically bypass the isolator. I know I would have to take it off everytime I change the filter, but I don't care. Anyone having or had the problem and what were your solutions. Thanks in advance.

ACE Hardware

I put a needle valve on the VP44 inlet like others have suggested here. This is a really good idea. I had used plastic line all the way to the gauge water line for a refrigerator rated at 150psi with compression fittings, but the angle I had and the vibrations of the cummins and pulses of fuel shattered the plastic at the bend close to the valve.

I went back to ACE hardware and noticed a 5 foot stainless braided water line for $7. It was perfect nut for my needle valve and the adapter i already had on my VDO gauge. I could have used another 6 inches, but mine is mounted where my radio was.

The needle valve is only open 1/4 turn. When the line shattered, I noticed fuel smell... very little actually leaked because it was barely open. I then only had to easily turn the valve closed until I had a chance to do the repair.

I have no problem running direct. I would never use ethylene glycol in a isolated gauge. Good for gas engine, but if it is injested into a VP44, well you can imagine the damage.

I would never do a direct fuel gauge set up on gasoline either. But for the diesel barely cracked open with super high quality connectors and braided line I will.

ACE salesman was wondering why so many diesel truck owners were buying that line...

I have the same setup as yours and had the same problem. I filled the isolator with anti freeze (50/50) and also the tube. The problem came from filling the tube also. Fill just the isolator. I drained some AF out and problem was gone. Good luck. Phil
