YUP - THAT'S the truck these guys with the 12,000+ lb trailers SHOULD be using to tow their RVs, instead of constantly asking "do I have enough truck for my trailer" - then whining piteously and making endless excuses when they are told, NO, you DON'T!  :-laf

About four years ago I saw an "F650 Super Crewzer" at the Denver auto show. It was billed as the ultimate hauler. It was done in a pearl red had lots of chrome, and was pretty nice looking. It was a one-of-a-kind, but I understand the Ford made (maybe still does?) a "Super Crewzer" package for the 550 and 650.

It wouldn't work for a daily commuter, though (my dually does!)

I drive an F650 every day. Cat power 230 hp, 700 ft lbs, 7 spd. It is a good truck if you are working it every day. This setup would be no fun for a commuter, or pickup application. I suppose it would be better with an allison. I am very immpressed with its turning radius, it will out turn any pickup truck, I am sure even a standard cab short bed. I use it for a field service truck and it does a fine job at that, better then the f350 it replaced. The f350 weighed around 13,000 lbs field ready. I have not weighed the 650 yet, but it is probably around 16,000 lbs. These were both company supplied vehicles. I would not go back the the f350 except in one place... offroad the 350 would go anywere and it was twd with lsd. The f650 gets stuck on dry grass, on a slight incline. The braking between the 350 and 650 I would have to say is compariable. I never had tire problems, brake problems, spring problems or anything like that on the 350. I think everyone will agree that 13,000 on a pickup everyday is pretty heavy. That was just on the truck chassis, no trailer involved.

I will however keep my old 93 for the stuff I do on my own. Yeah I tow heavy. The f650 will get out of shape if you are not careful. Sure the 650 will probably handle better then the pickup does in an emergency situation, but how much better? In most peoples hands it won't handle much better.

IMHO some people should not drive a car let alone a rv. You could give some people an 650 with a lawn mower trailer behind it and the setup will still be unsafe. I am sure the 650 will last longer in a heavy application then a pickup. For me though when my 93 is paid for, does the job just fine, and only gets about 10,000 miles a year on it anymore. How can I afford to get an f650 to drive less then that? I know for sure I would drive an f650 truck less then I drive my pickup.

That "little bit" just MIGHT mean the difference in a costly - or fatal - incident - either to you and yours, or likely other innocent fellow travelers...

As to the bed height, sure, with a pickup box it would be a problem, but most used in serious towing service install an aftermarket bed designed for that service - unfortunately, Dodge doesn't offer a cab/chassis setup as Ford does for those installations (even if they had the REST of the truck!)...

I've seen this Website & I was also looking at the new International CXT (CXT Website) but upon further inspection I realized these vehicles are somewhat assinine.

Think about it... how would a Gooseneck work with the bed that high?

How would you use a Fifth Wheel set-up   ... not.

How would you load a Motorcycle or even a sheet of plywood for that matter?

I think these trucks look really great at first glance but after thinking about it for a few days I think these might better suit a guy with Napoleon Complex or someone under 5'-3" :-laf :-laf... maybe this guy would drive one-Proud CXT/F650 Owner Oo.

The CXT truck has an ATV in the back in the picture on that site. Yes, that's overkill to haul that around. Now, if you had a gooseneck with 15 ATV's in it, that would be a different story. Having one of these with a pickup bed is sort of pointless. Nothing more than a status symbol or for someone with a complex, as mentioned above. But put a towing bed on it, or some other utility type bed, and then it will shine. It's for those needing extra duty, or hauling heavier loads safely. It does have its purpose, but if all you need is a pickup, a 3500 is plenty.

Yes exactly.

I went in to the International dealer to price out a CXT with a regular Flatbed but they are very expensive. ($90K)

They are just an International 7300 4x4 with a really nice interior.

Once you install the P/U bed you're trying to apeal to the Hummer crowd or something because they aren't really useable.
