Facebook tracking

Attention: TDR Forum Junkies
To the point: Click this link and check out the Front Page News story(ies) where we are tracking the introduction of the 2025 Ram HD trucks.

Thanks, TDR Staff

Hey Guys!!!!!!

RIP Charlie Daniels!

Folks,

Facebook tracks everything it can and profits from that information. If you grab anything from Facebook and re-post it, it comes with the Facebook tracker. Several of the browsers support Facebook tracking blockers. When postings get blocked you will see "Cannot load Facebook SDK. Disable any adblocker or tracking protection and try again."

Until recently TDR has been free from post that include the Facebook tracking but alas, a lot of stuff now is showing the dreaded "Turn off the blockers" which I will NOT do.

Just say no to Facebook and their nasty tracking!
If only the Forum software could strip those trackers, life would be good.

If you’ve ever had a cell phone, an email address, or surfed the internet, you’re likely being tracked. Most mainstream websites today track via cookies... just pay attention to the ads you see. Nobody is really safe... as they say, you can run but you can’t hide.

I have installed ADD Blocking software on my computer and I am not on Facebook either. But my wife is on Facebook along with my kids. They like the Facebook app because you can do live video streaming and chat with the grandkids. She also chats with her girl friends of 50+ years ago from high school who are all of the country.

I always point out to her that when she is looking at something on either a shopping app or Amazon, I know what she is searching for. Since she will get add notices on her I pad for items she has looked at the last couple of days. She has asked why I don't get these adds and my answer is because I use paper catalogs for my needs.

Your absolutely right, but there are ways to lessen this. Search history OFF, Location history OFF, no cookies, No virtual assistant. You do have control of the permissions of any apps you use.
The biggest instigator really is social media. TDR and a low key Land Cruiser forum is as close is it gets to social media for me.

Check out the Massive Data Repository in Utah, run by NSA. They have such massive server capacity they can collect virtually every phone call, email, FB post, whatever. Computer algorithms to comb thru and look for words/phrases that might indicate terrorist intentions. They will be pretty bored with most of us. Dont worry they will probably run out of water for cooling servers in a while and have to close it anyway.

The server data farm in Bluffdale is really amazing, if you check your tracerts all data goes though there to and from your PC. this is why i use Linux and a TOR browser. it helps, not perfect, but better than Microsofts offerings with a wide open backdoor into your PC.
The big search engines can and do filter data so you only see what they want you to see. that's why it's good to use a Apple phone, and on computer use startpage as a search engine.
if you must use windows, learn how to lock down firefox. and get a true software firewall. that stops OUTgoing traffic as well as incoming.

I have software that stops tracking on my home computer, at least and I am careful where I go which is much harder to block everything else.

Stuff like this is why my wife and I won't have a so-called "smart speaker" or anything like it in the house. I have a Facebook, get on once in a couple blue moons if that anymore. There is one of Microsoft's big cloud servers here in Cheyenne, they just added a lot more onto that facility. Pretty impressive facility.
