Hey fella's

I'm looking at a 99 to buy. It has a 6spd, and seller claims the orig owner ordered it special from the factory that way? Seller is the 2nd owner. I haven't looked at the truck yet, it's about 100 miles away. May look at it today or tomorrow.

It's a QC, LB, 4x4, 173k miles. Appears to be in great condition by what pics I've seen. Guy is asking 12,900obo for it. Needs tires and new rear brake shoes. Supposed to have new front u-joints, & new trac bar. I'm hoping to walk away at $11k. We'll see.

But anyway... any info on whether there was a 6spd in 99 would be helpful.

Yes, there was a limited run of NV5600 6-speeds in 1999. These, however, are somewhat unique as they have a smaller input shaft than the NV5600s used behind the Cummins HO engines in 2001 and 2002.

Thanks for the info. Interesting on the smaller input shaft. 1-3/8" insteat of 1-1/4" I suppose? Is it still an NV-5600?

c'mon Scott!!! :)

Hey, what can I say? It'll be great to see ya blowin' some smoke again, no matter how many valves it has to go through.

Don't be scared of the 1 1/4 input shaft my 99 has lots of power put to it and have only broken it once, it lasted 183 hooks and 148k miles on the street.

Considering there weren't that many made, there are a fair amount of factory 99 6'ers represented on this board (see sig for another one)

The only thing I can add is that 99 (and 00) the six speed was mated to the SO engine, not the HO engine that the 01 and 02 5600 came with.

Many assume the 6-speed came out when the HO was introduced in January 2000 (as a 2001 model), and are surprised to find out a few '99 and '00 trucks that came with them.

Supposedly there were quality issues with them, but it seems most every '99 I've heard of that has a NV5600 has been a good transmission. Rob Hanson of NW Bombers hauled pretty heavy with his '99 6-speed 4x4 dually a number of times, transmission was trouble free and always shifted good.

Thanks again guys. Drove it yesterday, it does have an SBC, but he's not sure which one. Gonna have to check his receipt.

No 53 on the block that I SAW. It MIGHT be there and I just didn't see it. But I did look.

Take it easy.

The 1. 25 input shaft is not the only difference also they had a different style syncro ring that are long sence discnt I have a 2000 6er that I just got back together last sunday I bought parts when they were still avail I put in the 1. 375 input the difference is where the syncro rings mate to the gears to use the 01-02 rings you have to change each gear they mate to other than that the trannys are the same the 01-02 rings are no longer avail either untill aftermarket makes some take care of it until parts are avail
