While installing the pyro probe for my EGT gage, I removed the factory filter box and snorkel for better access. While putting everything back together I decided I didn't want to re-install the snorkel (black tube between the inlet to the air box and the hole in the fender well) since it looks pretty cheap and flimsy. My question is can anyone think of a downside to letting the engine pull air directly in from the engine compartment instead of through the hole in the fender well? ... . tx

Nope! In fact, my KN pulls directly from there, as does everybody's BHAF's... if you want to lower your EGT's even more without spending the $42 or whatever for a KN or $30 some odd for the BHAF, drill about 6 1" holes in your stock airbox, on the sides and the bottom (pre-filter of course) and they will lower even more because you're getting more air. Here's a picture of my KN... not a very clean engine compartment, I know.

Thanks for the replies! I didn't think it would hurt anything not to use the snorkel but I wanted to get a few other opinions. I guess I'll be storing my snorkel in the dark, damp and dusty part of my garage :D
