Everything is stock on my '00 2500 4x4. I bought it, in excellent condition, at 38,000. It has approximately 67,000 now and I have changed the filter 2 times (once around 45,000 and again at 60,000). I have always bought Mopar filters.

When I changed the filter for the first time, the one that was in there had a foam pre-filter on it, but when I bought the replacement it didn't have a pre-filter. The dealer told me that Mopar doesn't make them with pre-filters any more. The 2nd replacement didn't have a pre-filter either. Is this true? Is the dealer looking up the wrong part #? I haven't had any trouble.

My filter minder has never moved in the time I have owned the truck. I even bought another one (for $75) and replaced it at 45,000.

I hope this helps your research

NEED MORE CFM FROM FILTER. Mine is stock accept for the 3/8 inch holes I drilled in every square in tn the bottom of the air box. I have to reset the filter minder every time I open the hood, even with new Mopar filter. I'm sure these filters are working to spec. just not enough CFM.

I have personally collapsed two filters. One on my personal truck pulling my fifth wheel in a dry powdery snow storm in South Dakota, and one on my 06' 3500 ctd company owned work truck driving through a snow storm in Wyoming on my way to work empty. When I got on it, my egts on my 03' started to get really high and boost actually started to go down at WOT I started to get worried. I stopped at the next town with a dodge garage and checked the filter. It was all scrunched in full of snow, but it didn't look like it broke the seal around the air box. I personally am thinking about a bhaf set up to put on my 03'.

My 05 has pulled the filter minder with no load on it with the stock filter element, i replaced it with an Amsoil air filter and modified the air box to pull in more cold air with a four inch duct and it has not pulled the filter minder since i also put a torque tube on the clean side of the air boxt to the turbo inlet. the Stock filter and box just do not allow enough CFMs and if this set up does not work i will spend the money for another AFE stager 2 system like i did on my 99.

My truck is completely stock with original factory filter. The filter minder pulls down about 25% when getting hard on the pedal. Truck has only 5100 miles on it.

I have not looked at the filter yet but will tomorrow after reading this thread.

I have the BHAF from my 98 and will maybe put it on and give it a try but it may not fit under the hood. Oo.

What is a PSM cold air kit????

Filter feedback

My stock '04 CTD with 49k miles on the original filter never movers the filter monitor more than a hair. I checked the filter this weekend for the first time and it had some dust in the pre-filter but the main part of the filter looked new.

Note I never rev my truck over 2000 RPM's maybe this has a lot to do with the monitor never moving.

I changed my original filter at 18000 because that was the first time the filter minder went in the red. My truck is bone stock and I never reset the filter minder until it was in the red. I couldn't beleive how much dirt was in the filter I would have changed it much sooner if I had known, but the owners manual says to go strictly by the minder and not to open the airbox. I've never seen a filter that dirty. I do drive 15 miles of dirt road every day and it gets really dusty, I also spend a some time out in the fields during planting or harvest. The filter never sucked in but there was a huge increase in power when I changed the filter (another stock mopar).
