I lock the doors on exit (remote lock). Less enticing to the thieves... T

Yes, you can lock the doors manually or with remote. It does NOT activate the alarm system while the engine is running.

My question exactly. Anyone figured out how to arm the alarm either WHILE the engine is cooling down or automatically AFTER it shuts off???????

Anyone???????

If you have the Diesel Turbo Lifesaver, it has two purple wires (negative trigger; 500mla relay driver) used to disconnect and reconnect shock and motion sensors on aftermarket alarms. I'm sure you could use one to trigger "on" at shutdown, firing a relay and setting the alarm. Down side would be it would set the alarm every time you used the shutdown unless you put a mechanical switch in line to overide it. A schematics would show which wire fires the "on" relay for the alarm. Just check the feed and make sure they are compatible. A good custom stereo install shop could do it for you, with a schematics. Hope this helps... T

Too bad DC or Cummins didn't spec the optional watercooled turbo housing Holset offers for the turbo we have. Then we wouldn't have to worry about cool-down except when immediately following a really hard drive... .

I have no idea what the factory alarms are like, but I do know the Turbo Shutdown Monitor has an output that triggers negative when over the set temp, and I assume, returns null when below the temp. This could possibly be used on some aftermarket alarms to trigger activation, but I'm not too sure.

Here is something you can do: The factory alarms are made by Code Alarm, and all you need to do is to trick the alarm to allow it to arm with the engine running (ie ignition hot). Baker Auto (they make the TD Lifesaver) make a "tricking device" to allow you to do just that, and I know it will work with a factory alarm. I think they cost around $30. Genos sells these items, give them a call. If you need more info just shoot me an email or post again.

If anyone wants to look into a cheaper Turbo shut down tool, Peterbuilt has a timer set up that looks like a dial timer off a stove. It ranges from 0-30 minutes cool down. Set it for how long you want the truck to run, turn the key off, get out and lock the door. The engine shuts down automaticaly afterwords, at the predetermined time you set.

The one I saw was new and had a price tag of $49 on it. I think its small enough to mount in that cubby hole beside the radio. Plan on looking into one myself. Price often dictates purchase, and at $50 compared to $240 from Genos garage, one cant complain about price. Plus it has that neat "Peterbuilt" symbol on it #ad

A possibility that ynott suggested that might work is to trigger "VTSS indicator driver" on Central Timer Module (8W-39-4) with aftermarket black box to lock the doors? Will have to test this one?
