Factory "BUG" shield

I went to a Target Parking lot a couple days ago, parked my 03 CTD and went inside the store for about 20 minutes. Came out and my Factory installed "BUG" shield had been stolen!! This shield was ordered from the factory, and was the same color as my truck, Dark Garnet Red Pearl Coat. Can't imagine someone being so "Braizen" to take something like that in broad daylight, unless of course they had the same color of CTD as mine!!



Very upsetting!!!

Thieves are the scum of the earth. There are few things I hate more than a thief. Theives think all of us owe them everything. They think they don't have to work for a living, because the rest of us will provide for them. They think they are above the law, however, I remind you again that they are the scum of the earth. #@$%!



I know what it feels like since I had a stereo stolen out of a 1994 Ford Ranger while it was on a church parking lot. They didn't care that they destroyed the dash getting it out.



I hope your insurance treats you right and your truck is back to normal soon.

I was washing my truck wednesday afternoon and noticed two of the four fasteners for my factory bug shield were missing... . Now you have me wondering. #&*^%* thieves!

MIne blew off of my 04. 5 in the drive through car wash on the air dry cycle.



Seems to me the mounts are not that great.

Not a bug shield but left the house last Sunday for about a hour and a half and my AMERICAN flag and POLE was stolen from the front corner of my driveway. Has been up since 911. New flags from time to time and I have lights on it etc. Now the pole is hooked to my electric fence. Has around 5500 KV running through it now.

I had a question that Amsoilman will now have.

Are all the 3rd gen bug shelds the same? My brother gave me one off an 02 1500. He hit a deer, the shield was not damaged, but they put one on anyway.



I bought the 4 mount pieces, which broke trying to install them, so I used those plastic push things you use on hood insulation. It just never seemed to line up correct, I had to cut the rubber bumpers to get it to fit.



The other day when i was closing the hood the bug shield came off in my hands.

No they are not the same... the 2006 bug shield is different and the earlier 2005 and below will not fit. Different hood contour and mounting alignment.



I bought my shield and parts dept gave me the one and I saw it and thought it was wrong as it had the rams head logo to replace one it covers up on earlier models. Tried anyhow in parking lot and did not work.



Took back in and low an dbehold they gave me wrong one. Took out the 2006 version and there is a definate difference.

Also, the bug shields are held on with plastic push pin thingies. They are not really screwed on with any thing really strong. Easy to take or fall off.
