I just looked briefly at the hinges, they are getting really bad. I would like to get new everything from dodge. How hard are these to change? I noticed two bolts on each side going inside out. What does it take to get to these?

It's easy, you'll have to remove the bottom trim or kick panels, then a rubber plug to get to the bolts, do one hinge at a time, marking the old one then replacing it, and use a jack to support the door, then you'll probalby have to adjust the nater pin, or strike pin, on the door jamb.

If you live in non rust belt area. Then the way matches stated will do it. If you live in the rust belt. The bolts might not come loose.

Door Rebuild???

Maybe I missed something here... ... . ?

Do what you like, but a simple bushing kit with new pins will moist likely fix it. You don't take anything apart save for pulling the pins.

Whats the best/easiest way to replace the pins? I bought NAPA pins but can't get the old ones out. Any tricks to that?

Use a air chisel with a blunt tip bit. You need a short bit for the top hinge pin. A long bit helps for the lower pin. The door curves inward giving a bad angle with a short bit.

Use a floor jack to support the door. A second person helps while doing this. If you have power mirrors and windows its a pain to unhook them. Have a second person just hold the door upright on the floor jack while you throw the new bushing in.

I'm getting ready to do the pins on mine (has power mirrors, speakers in the doors, power locks, power windows... you get the idea). Are ya'll saying you can change the pins and bushings without having to unbolt the hinges and take them out? (I figured they'd have to be drilled for the new bushings).

The old bushings just knock out, and the new ones press back in. No need to remove the hinges, as long as the door is supported.

I had to replace the lower driver hinge, I tried the replacement pins and bushings, they only worked for a litlle while. The bushings kept coming out, so I just replaced the entire hinge, around $80 from the dealer. Still cheaper than a new truck payment!
