I have a friend at work with an '03 1500 with factory fog lights. She found one broken yesterday and went to the local dealer for a replacement. Dealer wanted $125 for 1 light and $50 for install. Can anyone tell me if there is a replacement light for these that are a little cheaper? If I can find one, I will install it for her. I think I can find a pair of lights cheaper than the $175 the dealer wants.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Chip

The above link looks like a round universal light. The 03/04 lights are an odd shape. Here's a link for one light on ebay, or you can find a listing for 2.

Beware of the cheap stuff. hese will at least let you see what they look like if nothing else.

Good luck

I don't know where to get the bulb any cheaper but with only 2 screws holding the thing on $50 is rediculous for the labor.

My dealer up here in Traverse City wants $70+ (one hour min shop time) just to plug in their computer and re-calibrate the speedo for the larger tires. Fifty sounds like a deal if they have to actually open the tool box, get out a tool, and lie down or put it on a lift. :D

Flip side: You wouldn't as a builder, want somebody calling you to change light bulbs. (had it happen) The charges get sort of $pendy.

With my speedometer though, there is no other way than their computer link-up. Maybe the fuel stations of the future will have a cord next to the air hose and vaccuum for computer code reading, changes, etc. Oo.

Big,

I'm sure $50 is reasonable for most people. BUT, since I used to turn wrenches for Dodge (almost 20 years ago) I still have a hard time with labor rates, even though this is not on my truck. I know the lights have to be cheaper somewhere. I think I will call some of the salvage yards today while at work.

I just feel sorry for my friend (who owns the truck) as she is older and having to live away from her husband due to work. Kind of feel like I need to help her out.

Anyway, thanks for all the information. This is a great site.

You can buy the whole fog light kit for $169. 00 from Mopar. Call around to some of the dealers who discount parts. At least you would be getting two of the lights, plus swich and wiring.
